Hi All I have just purchased one of these bikes and have read various posts on the batteries, I have purchased a lithium polymer battery to replace the lead acid battery which was with the bike, and it fits within the original battery case. However when I connect up this battery the charge lights show and then go out and just a bleeping is heard, I am wondering have I got to much voltage as the new battery is giving out 26 volts or do I have a fault with the controller or other electrics ??. Also does anyone have a repair or parts manual for these bikes or are GMB or Merida still offering service or any info on the electrics ( will a standard e,bike controller work )

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated as I am new to the Pedelecs Community.

Regards Phil

If it was two lead acid they would be 13.8v full charge each so about 27.6 volt expected. If your battery is only 26 volts it's a bit low. what is the current rating of both battery and bike, If it's too low voltage sag would stop the function straight away.
Have you any details?

Thanks for your reply, the new lipo battery is 26.8v when charged and it is a 6aH which I was told would cover up to 10aH SLA battery the original SLA bike batteries were 7.5aH. The Fuse for the battery is 15A, the mid drive crank motor is 24v DC 230w so I reckon would draw around 9.5 A when running, but I have the bleeping problem as I switch on with the bike at standstill, hope I have given you the correct info.
Regards Phil

Also if I connect the motor direct to the battery it runs ok so I think it must be the control circuit.

Cheers Phil

I think your reply is useful.
6ah of Lipo should easily last as long as 7.5 ah lead acid.
The motor runs fine under load if you bypass the controller then its time for a new controller.
That's how I read your position.

Hi Phil- Im new to the forum and saw your post. I inherited a Merida TEV 500 with same setup. It hasnt been ridden in years and the battery is dead. Rather than put another SLA in I wanted to look at a LiIon pack replacement. I understand batteries pretty well but have no info on the bike to start from. Any info you could share on your conversion efforts would be helpful.
