I think I might have glazed my rear brakes but before I start taking anything apart I thought I'd just ask the more experienced folk here whether that's the most likely explanation for my brakes squealing and whether there's anything else I should be looking out for. I've got a Wisper 705 with hydraulic disc brakes and it's a new bike so it's only done about 20 miles.
I have to brake as I go round a corner starting a downhill section of road and normally I'd then release the brakes for a bit, build up a bit of speed, brake, release etc - the downhill is around half a mile long and a bit twisty. Yesterday I had a couple of free-range chickens decide to make my life difficult! Just after the bend, they ran pell mell in front of me for a good 50 or 60 meters, criss crossing each other so there was no chance of dodging round them. That meant I had to keep the brakes on (fairly hard) to avoid tangling with them. Soon after that, I realised the rear brake had started squealing.
I haven't had any oil or lube near the bike yet so I don't think it can be that although I'll give the discs a wipe down with a solvent just to rule that out.
Anything else I should be checking out?
