May 28, 200817 yr just noticed the gitane ebike for sale with online shop d2 leisure £1059 for bike with small battery or more for 8ah battery they also seem to have shops round the london area jim
May 28, 200817 yr As it takes the 8 Ah battery, it seems it's the previous Panasonic unit without the high power mode and incompatible with the newest 10 Ah battery though. This is the one that last year's Gazelle had, and I believe those are on offer cheaply now. .
May 28, 200817 yr they say 3 power setting so i imagine the same as kakhoff That's odd Jim. It will need checking out to see if it's compatible with the latest battery though, since the previous unit did come in a 3 mode version, but I was only aware of BikeTech using it. So many makes now using the Panasonic units that it's getting confusing. .
May 28, 200817 yr The Gitane up to 2006 model use the old Panasonic motor (two power levels), the 2007 and 2008 models use the new Panasonic motor (three power levels).
May 28, 200817 yr Thanks Renaud. I understand from an owner of a 2007 Gazelle with 8 Ah battery that it doesn't accept the later 10 Ah battery though, that apparently only fitting the 2008 Panasonic model. It seems that might apply to that Gitane since it lists the 8 Ah battery. .
May 28, 200817 yr The one I tried at Presteigne was from the ElectricCycleCompany on edinburgh, but non-on their site yet (they were to update it). Electric Cycles from the Electric Cycle Company in Edinburgh, Scotland John
May 28, 200817 yr The 2007 Gazelle didn't have a 8ah battery but a 7,7 ah one (like the old Flyer Plus). Present Flyer have 10 ah battery or optionaly a 8ah one. Gitane sells only a 8ah battery but it's exactly the same motor than the Kalkhoff. Flyer and Gazelle (the later in a very goodlokking way imho) customize the Panasonic battery packaging, but others seems to uses standard Panasonic battery box. Flyer and Gazelle batteries are perhaps not compatible with other Panasonic equiped bikes. I guess that Gitane 8ah and Kalkhof 10ah are interchangeable just like Flyer 8ah and Flyer 10ah are. What we need is a retailer selling Gitane and Kalkhoff to confirm this guess.
May 28, 200817 yr Thanks again for the information Renaud. Retailers here don't mention that the 2007 Gazelle battery was 7.7 Ah, listing it as 8 Ah instead, hence the confusion. .
