giant escape hybrid 2 battery

heres one for the techy's out there has anyone opened and replaced the batterys inside the case.
i opened it and it looks like it has 40 18650 batterys in a plastic case.
i was thinking of replacing them myself with 18650 9900mah of ebay.
however cant find any info on internet as to disassembeling the battery pack.

any help or pictures would be great thanks.

I don't know about your specific pack - but I suspect the connecting tabs between the batteries are spot welded making disassembly tricky. I would just construct a new pack out of cells and don't bother trying to disassemble the old one.

I have reconstructed battery packs from individual cells - most recently for my De-Walt drill.

You can usually buy cells with tabs attached. They can be soldered to another cell if you can find a high power soldering iron. I have a 100W Antex iron which was fairly cheap. It has enough power to dump heat into the tab without heating the rest of the cell too much. Just use regular solder (Lead solder is much better than modern lead-free for a number of reasons. Again you can pick up old stock on eBay).

thanks for the input about building your own battery, i have thought about it but i also like the idea of putting the new cells in the original case for the giant bike, in practice maybe not quite that easy but it would allow me to use all the parts i already have including the charger and pcb boards already fitted just need some direction via a link or video as to how to dissasemble the pack.

So, youre asking how to dismantle the plastic / metal case?

Again I've frequently found they are glued together so you have to be a bit brutal in dismantling it! Usually nothing a bit more glue won't fix though!
