Giant entour/yamaha with Yose battery?

I have an opportunity to buy a giant etour for very little, the rack mounted battery failed. It has the yamaha mid drive, I don't know where the controller is fitted.

is this as simple as replacing the giant rack mount and replacing it with a battery from YOSE power, and wiring it in, or is there a problem handshake issue with the controller etc?

Thanks in advance

Show us some pictures and provide as many details as possible.

The reason why somebody is selling it cheap is most likely because it is using proprietary technology and you can NOT use Yose battery,

Giant usually use CANbus so any battery will have to be a Gaint supplied one, not a generic two wire one such as a Yose battery.
There is one reason why one managed to buy the bike for cheap and that is the locked in Giant servicablilty which is expensive.

I wouldn't buy a bike with proprietary technology. Cheap or expensive it is a false economy. Buy a bike which you can repair and expect to be able to buy spare parts in the future.

There is a workaround. Some guy made a device that spoofs the comms so that any battery can be used with Yamaha, and he gave instructions on how to make it. I'm not sure if it works with Giant because there are some differences, and I have it at the back of my mind somewhere that the difference might be the comms, so don't get too excited.
