Furo X Battery Question

Good afternoon everyone!

I recently purchased a Furo X which was brand new but came incomplete without battery or charger (doh)

I have been quoted £600 for their 36v 8.7 ah battery, and another £200 for the slightly larger 'Max' battery.

The bike has the Bafang DC36V rear hub motor, and Furo's battery pack sits just below the seat tube and clicks in their.

My question is, as it has a pannier rack, would there be any cheaper battery options which could also give more AH for your buck, where you could mount the battery there?

Would absolutely love to hear your thoughts!

First post also so Hi! :)

Im going to assume I will have to remove the original battery connector and just use the wiring, unless there is such a battery that isn’t just furo system compatible?

id get rid of it asap but imo the controller is in the batt so that will need to be replaced no idea if the motor is software locked to the controller tho.

Thanks for your reply, I’ve a lot to learn, so this controller is separate to the one on the bars?

The bar controller is a display unit, it can be led or lcd which is better.
On has three options other then the furo option.
First one needs to trace the motor cable to see that it uses a julet type w/p connection.
1. A frog type battery and remote controller.

36V10Ah Frog Electric Bicycle Battery Lithium-ion E-bike Battery for Mifa | eBay

2. A rack battery and remote controller housed in the front compartment of the

3. A downtube type battery with integrated base plate controller bolted to a base and secured to the rack.

Cost wise £250 - £400 mostly dependant on battery type and controller system used, the cheap controller systems are really not worth skimping on.

That's easy then. All you need is any generic 36v battery, simply wire up the red & black battery wires to the red/black controller wires and you are good to go.
You can get the bike working for sub £200 if you wish or spend more on a battery, all depends on how far you want to go.
Controller and lcd display are matched and are Lishui brand a good oem brand.

You have been so helpful thank you very much! Are there any battery brands I should stay away from in particular?

Motor cable is std 9 pin julet but is now of little concern as one has a nice controller located in the seat tub box and a nice display to suit.
All one has to decide is on the battery type to use, as I mentioned an easy solution to power up once battery is fitted.

Just one caveat, we assume being brand new it does work ?
Can you temporary rig up the fiido battery if 36v to test all is well ?

No really it is down to purely how much you want to spend and the range you need. the controller is 15a max so all batteries will be at least 15a continuous ideally though the specs on the battery will need to be 20a continuous or more.
Also if not sure link any battery so we can check out the specs for you.
10ah will or should see you 30 miles ish.

The existing furo battery base unit one should be able to remove/unbolt for safe keeping then likely one of the two frog/seat post options I posted may be able to fit and be secured to the seat post, then just a case of wiring up correctly the wire tails.
The controller located at the base on the front of the seat tube is a neat solution and easy to access.

Perfect, 10ah! I will take a look at old fiido see how easy it is to whip the ends out, not sure what type they are but great thinking! You are correct I don’t even know if that was the only thing wrong! Good job it was cheap I’ll report back soon!

thank you again!

So fiidos connections are exactly the same, but whilst connecting up, black first then red and spark. Papped myself
