Freewheel to cassette conversion?

cawh put freewheel tool in place then screw the nut on just enough to hold the tool in place, then use your socked +bar, it turns anticlock wise

But to maintain it, I would need a wrench right? The breaker bar is a sort of ratchet that doesn't let anything outside of it.

And I'd still have the same problem when I'll try to remove the crank. such a pain too. Isn't there a better way?

cawh a( deep seated ) socket fits on to the tool it should clear the nut,

I'm late coming onto this thread, but I'm not too sure what cwah is going to achieve, apart from undoing the freewheel....
As already said, a Cyclo (or similar) deep freewheel socket with 12mm+ clearance and enough leverage will remove a multi or singlespeed freewheel. You can fit another one up to 9spd (Sunrace) or S/S (but may have chainline problems).
Also mentioned early in the thread, changing to a modern freehub and cassette means changing to a dedicated electric hub. More versatile, but not so cheap...
