Flyer Uproc4 8.70 missing settings

Hello everybody,

I have a Flyer Uproc4 8.70 e-bike 2020 model with Panasonic GX Ultimate motor, FIT D0 T5 display. On the setting menu under the My Flyer section following options are available according user manual: ASSISTANCE, BACKLIGHT, AUTO BACKLIGHT, SERVICE, WHEEL SIZE. In my case only the BACKLIGHT and SERVICE is available. I was told that if the display working without defects, which is the case, then can be the circuit board on the motor that no longer allows support to be set.

Can anyone confirm / infirm or advise ?

I was told that if the display working without defects, which is the case, then can be the circuit board on the motor that no longer allows support to be set.
Many makers now tend to lock-out features that may once have been available to stop users messing with them. For example, the Wheel Size setting; the "circuit board on the motor" (i.e. the controller) would have been programmed at the factory for the wheel size fitted to your bike. The only reason a user would want to change that is to make the bike assist go faster than the legally allowed 15.5mph by entering a smaller wheel size setting - it's a common hack bike makers don't want you to do, so they disable it. It'll be the same for whatever was under "Assistance"... they don't want you messing with the factory programmed settings, and certainly not to make your bike go faster than the law allows.

It's mostly only the lower-cost generic Chinese import bikes made for a worldwide market that still allow fiddling with those types of settings.

Many of the 'high end brand' mid motors have 'dongles' available at stupid expensive prices i think 'MSO' (maximum speed off) is a good keyword for google etc..
