might seem a bit trivial but does anyone know of something available to keep the pesky flies out of the mouth. On the trails where I ride it's very easy to get a mouthful. Was thinking maybe a lightweight mesh mouth cover.

When you say flies do you mean midges / gnats ? The places I ride are often swarming with them from spring time through to autumn time especially anywhere near water toward the end of the day. They're a major PIA especially when you inadvertently ride straight into a big swarm of them.

Ha!
When I saw the title I thought it might be some sort of ball guard....

Yes they are the ones. I have the usual buff type protectors but too warm. I have found a bit of lightweight mesh from one of those outdoor pop up fly cover things (which was conveniently broken). Will try and bodge something together.

That pink suit is priceless !

I have a down hill helmet which works well or I use a winter neck warmer /buff

A. summer neckwamrer made of a light , wicking fabric would be great ...i have never found one

I have a dodgy nose which means I am a bit of a mouth breather when exercising, flies are a right pain in the oesoghagus!
