Well th edit was not much help either, ... However googling on line I find that cams in this context refers to video cameras and Fly is a brand name....
" Cams" in the context of mechanical engineering website.... And pedelecs is such, has other meanings including the quick release fittings for wheels and seat posts...

It’s a well known shortening of the word camera

The reason I disagreed was because above all I value clarity.
Too often on forums posters use obscure initials rather than words.
They may work in a certain environment where the use of such shorthand is commonplace, but pity us poor mortals who do not.
I could easily lapse into journalese but out of respect for other members do not do so.
Also, I want people to understand what I write.
A cam is a certain type of mechanical eccentric on a shaft.
When the word camera is combined and shortened in Web Cam, Dash cam etc. it actually creates a new word rather than a contraction.
Cam on its own as a word to describe a mechanical device and its right to exist as such should be respected.
As far as I was concerned it was in a sentence that made 100% sense and clarity
And to be fair
Web cam and Dash cam are not one word there acronyms/abbreviations of much bigger words
It’s just when put into sentences they make sense Which the above title did to me and obviously the original poster
We’re all different and relate differently to things it doesn’t mean you have to outright disagree it means you have to except it and move on
That’s my outlook on it anyway

your lucky he didn’t use text speak that would have really upset your day
