Well Andy it looks like you have to jerk your arm up to set them flashing what if you dont jerk hard enough and assume its started to flash and then make your turn but the unit has not started flashing , another thing is because they are not the normal signal motorists are used to seeing they wont take any notice of them.

Good answer, many thanks. I now understand your thoughts far better with this extra/full information.
I still like the placing, but now, not the method, like you! The system is not well thought out apparently.
