February 1, 20206 yr Can anyone explain to me whey such a bike as the Volt Big Foot is for off road only? It has the same motor and controls as others in the Volt range. I cannot find anything on it relating to why it's off road only. Thanks for your replies!
February 1, 20206 yr It's not but in the main wider tyres to cope with offroad terrain better. You can ride on roads but a more road orientated tyre will more efficient, safer and a lot quieter. Knobbly tyres are better for grip on loose, wet muddy terrain and ride over the surface better. On the road the knobbles will be more skittish with wet or slippery conditions on tarmac. The knobblier tread and wider contact area will make road riding harder.
February 1, 20206 yr Typical sales blurb. * Off road only followed by *The distances shown on our website are based on real tests under the following conditions: Road conditions: Tarmacked good condition roads, quite flat terrain
February 1, 20206 yr I ride a Surly Moonlander with 4.8" wide tyres, and the noise on tarmac running off road tread is terrible as well as causing high wear. I have some of these for summer use when I do less off road riding and conditions are dryer. https://www.veetireco.com/fat-tire/apache-fattyslick/
