Hi everyone, I've been a member on here since 2007 but I haven't had an electric bike for quite a while!. Due to wanting to save money we've gone down to one car and living in Guernsey Channel Islands it's difficult to get bikes delivered here without very high delivery charges. .

I stubbled across a bike called a Falcon Surge on Very UK, where I have an account. Its a foldable aluminium frame 6 gear bike (looks great value). So I thought what the hell and ordered one. Its only £899.00 and I couldn't afford anymore and I only have about a 3 mile journey to work which has one steepish hill.

But I can't find any reviews of the bike anywhere!, Has anyone seen a review of this e bike?. A link to a review/video review would be great!.

The bike doesn't have to be anything special due to my short journey to work so I'm hoping it will be adequte to get me to work not in a sweaty mess.

Good luck with it. It should do what you need as long as you aren't too heavy; you will probably have to put in a little effort on the hill.
Failing that; a trip to Poole and there seem to be quite a few ebike shops in Bournemouth!

I’m only 10 stone in weight so I’m pretty light. To get to Portsmouth or Poole from Guernsey with a bike is nearly £200 when I last looked so it’s costly, I think it’s cheaper UK - Guernsey- UK. I’m pretty sure tourists here get it cheaper. But not very well off people like me can’t afford to travel.... but this is another issue :-D

What would be worse is that if something went wrong with the bike and it had to be returned.

There are a few e bike mechanics here so I’m hoping that any repairs could be done locally if required in the future. Going through a big company like I have pick ups/returns are all free in the event of faulty goods. That’s another reason I went this route

If like my falcon, the chain will rust first sign of a raindrop, the rim brake pads are like cardboard,
If it has a suspension seat post, I give that a few months, if it has a Shimano twist grip for gearing, you will need the grip of a first class tennis player to change gear. Tighten everything - to proper torques, the forks on mine loosened after a week.
A year later I have had to change motor/ controller / display. I have had to replace the fuse holder.
The brakes themselves are rubbish, In the next couple weeks I will have to replace front cable/ c-tube thingy.

That's called the Noodle, the curved metal tube that carries the inner cable between the brake and outer cable.

My advice would be to replace the brake cables completely. Lots of low-budget bikes come with very spongy cable brakes courtesy of outer cables that compress too far when under braking pressure.

If you are replacing the outer cables it makes sense to replace the inners too. The difference is very noticeable, even with the existing levers, pads and V-brake mechanisms.

I’m not sure if yours is the same as the one I’m getting ? mines a Falcon Surge folding bike.

Shimano parts are normally pretty good so that’s strange. It does have a similar Shimano twist gear change to my sons bike.

what sort of mileage do you do? I’m only going to be doing under 3 miles to work and back and maybe a bit more on my day off.

Bike arrived today in the post, easy to assemble, feels solid. Battery on charge. I’ll post a review once I’ve ridden it for a bit
