Hi guys, today I bought a 2021 carrera vengeance e bike, it has error 00 and 21 I knew it had a error 21 and thought that there was no speed sensor on it, I turned the bike over and it was below the crank, I then repositioned it to the correct place and put some wd40 in the connections, then I put the battery on and the display showed the speed and mileage etc, then it threw it self back into error mode this time error 00, (I do have a smashed display so maybe that’s it) and then I turned the bike off and back on then error 21 appeared again. Any advice on this? Also I’m looking to buy a throttle and wondered if I can bypass the speed sensor if I buy one so it doesn’t show the code, any recommendations for a cheap but reliable throttle? Thanks guys.

What happens when you disconnect the torque sensor?

Error 21 still continues, I’m not sure because it looks fine, I will post a picture of the sensor itself and see if I need to buy a new one. Thanks

Hi I bought a new one just before as I took the sensor off again and had a close inspection, it doesn’t look good but wondering would it still work, here it is. Would a new sensor sort this issue and if not what else could it be. Thanks

There should be a cable tie around the blaxk sleeving to stop it pulling the wires off. The only way to know if a wire is off is to dig out the silicone rubber. Underneath is a connector. If youfind a broken wire you can solder it.. that's about it.

Ah okay mate thanks for that, I’ll do that tomorrow and have a look, I’ve bought a new one already but it’s worth a shot to save me some money, also would this sensor issue cause the code 00? Because I do have a smashed lcd display and thought that’s it. Thanks

Hi mate took all the silicon off, nothing much, the board seems ok, there is a couple of nicks in the wires and bends but nothing too bad, here’s a picture. I put it on without the silicon still error 21. Also when I plug the sensor into the connector there is no click, should there be? Thanks

Nicks in wiring , is this bare wires showing thru the outer sheaf ?

No no wires are showing, but there are some bends on the yellow one. Also could this error 21 be the wire that connects to the ecu? That’s what I’m worried about. Thanks

Have you tried a continuation wire check to ensure there is no wire break down

Can you point me somewhere that explains how to do this, I have a multimeter. Thanks for your help!

Your meter will have a beep/continuity position on the dial. Usually the last position C/W before half past six on the dial.
Simply test each wire in turn, probe each end of the same wire.
A continuity circuit on a wire will beep, gently wiggle said wire for a break and for it not to beep.

If there's anything wrong with those wires, the torque sensor wouldn't work, and you might get a code for it, but comms error is between the controller and the LCD unless there's a short in the torque sensor wires, but you'd see that.

Hi all, I received my new sensor today and popped it on before I did the continuity test and it works perfectly fine, no E21, but I did get an E00 30 seconds after I turned it on, I turned the display off and on and it was gone, rode about 2/3 miles on it and all works well, when I put the new sensor on and plugged it in it has a click sound, but the other didn’t. Now if I ever get a E21 and the sensor is fine I know what to do :). Thank you for your help guys
