The Fat bike looks made for the conditions.

Not sure if I am jealous or grateful we do not have snow?
yes, it really likes this sort of conditions :)

well, snow is fun but it doesn't stay so long here :( it use to melt away in a few days and then it gets VERY messy, then after a few days it snows again and this repeats :) this is in southern parts of Sweden though, better in north. So days like these has to be enjoyed to the maximum!

What do you carry in your supply bag in such cold conditions?
nothing that freezes :) extra clothes, lights, pump, tools, tube and actually something a little extra this ride, a bottle of red wine! :) as I was going on a dinner :)

If it wasn't a ride out to dinner, a nice malt whisky would be my choice for a nice tot or two. Now you have made me think of another supply to take out with me this winter :D.

Finding more time than I thought. :)

Sunday saw the chance of popping out to make the most of the lovely sunny weather. This was a mix of on and off road, and it made a pleasant change for myself and my riding buddy to be able to chat as we rode along.

The valley view to both sides in the mid to rear of the photo, is the 500 acres of private land that I have just been given sole rights to ride over. Happy days. :)

It also seemed daft not to get out tonight just try to get a few more miles in before the weather changes. It was actually unexpectedly muddier than I had thought, and if I want to continue to use the Lycan, then I'll have to put my hands in my pockets for a new set of tyres. Just need to decide whether to stick with the DZO's that are currently fitted, or switch to Toro's as fitted to the hard tail.
On the other hand, I am having so much fun on the hardtail, that I might just fit a pair of Schwalbe Big Apples that someone has kindly given me, and just use the bike on the road for the winter.

For anyone that fancies it, there is now an Electric Mountain Bike Collective Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/313908402329634/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE

It is a closed group, and please forgive any delay in processing membership requests. I intend to mail out to FB and Instagram follows over the next day or so, so hopefully the membership and page content will slowly evolve.

then you will have to limit the speed to 15.5mph with a 250w motor with the data cable and software.;)

you set it any faster than 15.5 mph and its a motorbike according to some and still think there road legal.

yet all a dongle does is remove the speed limit and there not legal.

go work that one out pmsl ;) its 250w but not as we know it.

I'll happily leave them at factory settings, mph/watts, but would like to see what an established, world-class FS MTB with a legal motor will do against a modern factory-built eMTB...I already know from rides we've done and bikes I own, but it'd be good to get the stats to prove the doubters wrong and publish it...Team Homebuild have beaten some of the best bike builders in the world at LSR and it'd be funny to compare corporate builds once again;)

Why chose when you can have both :)

I saw a list the other day with different mid drives, there really are alot of them! Which one would be the best for DIY?

I decided to finish work early today, and head off to explore a little more of the new play area, and to also start some trail building using existing animal trails, in order to try to eliminate many of the boggy fire breaks.
Depressingly it now gets dark just too early to make any decent progress, so it looks as though my weekends might be sorted for while at least. :)
Having said that, I was hoping to head off to the South Downs this weekend, so who knows. :)

Back to six months of mud and darkness. :)

Today was possibly the last off road ride for the Lycan for a while. I'm having far more fun from the hardtail, and the old girl is desperate for a service, so time for a nut and bolt rebuild.

Those engines have been fitted to your bikes far too long about time they needed taking off.

That one looks too cold for me Simon. :)

Judging by how soaked and cold that I was this afternoon after my trail building and ride session, the snow flurries had thawed slightly before hitting my neck of the woods. Not a pleasant afternoon for a ride. :(

Was good fun bit tricky on the way down cleaning will have to wait until tomorrow

I always ride with GPS. Nice to know where you are even when you're not lost
