This is a disaster of truth, Honda motor is a combustion-powered scooter. When a certain amount of gas burns, the engine push the wheel a certain distance no matter the wheel is big or small. While the electricity-powered motor is in a different theory. Big wheel causes the motor hot and shortcut.

We all welcome innovation but it's very difficult to shrink the size and weight of e-bikes.

scooters can have smaller wheels because the wheels are much heavier, storing higher rotational inertia and angular momentum to keep the vehicle upright.
Too much angular momentum is not good for turning, that's why there is a n optimum wheel size depending on the height of the rider, total weight of rider + vehicle and speed. For e-bike, the optimal wheel size for 10st rider is 24", 15st rider is 26" etc.

It sounds scientific, but the optimal wheel size should be calculated by following 5 factors- the wheel weight, rider weight, height, vehicle & speed according to your theory. So any change of the 5 factors will cause the wheel size change, and optimal wheel size will be a much more dynamic number rather than 10st rider is 24", 15st rider is 26" etc.

They got banned after the initial craze. The total number of e-bike sold in the EU is more than 2 millions a year. 50,000 initial sales is not a big percentage.

DYU would try hard to reach that number and get banned. But before that, the factory boss, many agents & wholesalers could become billionaires already. Hoverboard has achieved many young entrepreneurs' dream.

It's a concept, not a physical problem, and the wheel size of e bike is ok to be smaller when riding. The rider group may be small at the beginning but it keeps growing.

Brompton is alike DYU and will do a job like them.

That is the most ridiculous thing you've posted. They are not remotely alike, the Brompton is many times better than the DYU. But if you make the DYU a little longer and use 16" wheels it will be able to compare.

I agree, my knees were hurting just looking at it.
Maybe it has a place if you live in a tenth floor flat and need to only get two miles to work. Beyond that, the seating position makes it muscle ache waiting to happen.
But hang on, it's got a throttle which, in the video is the main means of getting the drive on. Isn't that illegal throughout Europe and with an uncertain position in Britain?
Can't see it having much of a market beyond being a hire bike to prat about along the sea front promenade etc.

It's (DYU D3+) a great little bike to just sit back, and ride. I'm 6ft, and I only pedal to assist when tackling an up hill gradient. It is more of a Moped, than a pedal to electric assist user.
