Hi my bike as developed a problem last week after landing it to my neighbour!
Despite full battery if I switch the motor on and select setting any of the setting to tackle an hill I can see all the light indicating the battery chargec level disappearing and motor cuts out
I soon as I go back on the flat switching the motorcis fine
The all thing seems to drain the battery
Much faster then it has done I have had the 36 V battery tested reads 39/40 I have 2 batteries and the problem happens using both batteries
Any idea as what tge Problem could be ?
It has been such a good bycle and I only use it in spring summer keeping battery charged so not over used
Much appreciated BH

Everything you say points to a worn and tired battery that now needs replacing. A fully charged 36v battery should reach 41-42volts. That yours only reaches 39-40v is the first sign of trouble. The second sign is that as soon as you put a higher load on it (the motor is drawing high current), the voltage is dropping quickly to the point where the battery shuts itself off - about 32v.

You really need to have the battery(s) re-celled or replaced.

39/40v is a either a knackered battery or one that is badly out of balance. A 36v battery should charge to 41.5v at the least.
If it is a balance issue it will need someone with knowledge to carry out checks or someone with common sense who can follow simple instructions to test it with a meter. Opening and checking a battery isn't as daunting as it sounds.

Brigitte posted on my profile:

HI I have a elife Lagrande were can I have the bycle battery recelled /repaired
To keep it in the public domain Brigitte where it may help others too, and other members here may suggest other options that I haven't considered:

1) Elife are a brand sold by Argos and some TV shoppng channels etc. A company called ebikes seem to sell Customer returns and surplus new Elife bikes; they also stock new batteries for many of them.

2) Other suppliers like PSWpower sell third party batteries via ebay and aliexpress, often cheaper than the 'official' ones. Members here have bought their batteries; they seem to be okay as a supplier.

3) A re-cell company many here recommend is ebikebatteries who take your old battery and re-cell with good quality cells - usually longer life and more power for better range if that's important to you.

4) Lastly, we have Facebook Steve. A member here called Chris with an Elife Mantra bike had Steve apparently re-cell his battery for a rediculously small amount of money. The member Chris is delighted. You can read about Chris's experience here. Just be sure to read the whole thread to decide if that's a route that might work for you.

I hope that helps. You can always post pictures of your battery here; some may recommend another source.
