Electric wire

Hi,

I would be grateful for some help: I have a Freego bike and the mice have chewed the wire that goes from the electric control box at the front of the handlebars to the brake to cut out the motor when I brake. I can't seem to find the same type of wire anywhere - it is two strand blue/black with a silver wire centre, but I can only find copper centred wire. Does anyone know where I can buy that type of wire from? I have searched all over and contacted bike and motor shops, but no one sells it or knows where I can buy it from. I am in the UK by the way.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks both of you for your responses. I read online that you should never mix copper and silver wire as it can cause problems. Is that not the case?

It's not silver wire. It's silver coloured tin plated copper. The tin is just to stop it corroding.

Ah, right thank you. I didn't know that.
Silver wire is very expensive and only used in applications that need its extra high conductivity. You'd never find it in a domestic or consumer type product, except maybe in somebody's hi-fi system, where those guys are happy to spend thousands to get a system where they can hear all the scratches on their records more clearly.
