Hi, I am looking for an electric tricycle. I Ave been to Jorvik Cycles but can't really afford a new one. Bid on a jmt 13 but pulled out when it hit £2000. I am 63 and last year had an above the knee amputation.
I am relatively fit but need something to give me reasonable assistance. Any suggestions of makes, models etc

First find the tricycle, then convert it. The above looks interesting.

Defect of all seems to be rim brakes.

Would you require throttle speed control, with one leg I doubt you could rely on pedal assist alone?

A Trike or a conversion kit sourced from a uk supplier conformant with the eu/uk regs will probably not have its throttle feature enabled beyond starting the 4mph walk mode.
Lots of fixes for this ranging from 'cheat codes', plug in devices, and if necessary control system/display replacement(Upto an extra £100).

But its a possible 'bump in the rd'

A friend of mine has a Jorvik etrike, she loves it, enables her to keep up with her MTB enthusiast husband zooming up hilly tracks. There are a couple of sub £2K Jorvik etrikes available on ebay just now, one is "Buy now" for less than £900, but sold without battery. As usual, ebay bargains are far away with no delivery offered. Best keep checking periodically.

If you haven't managed to find one yet, keep an eye on eBay and Gumtree, just make sure the model is working because if you buy an older one that needs major repairs like a new motor you may find Jorvik no longer produce/support it, I know this from experience because I took a chance that didn't work out.

If you find an auction you like and it's far away, take a look at shiply.com - I think they're owned by eBay. It's a site where couriers basically bid with offers to deliver your item and it's geared up to take the link to the eBay item, which you don't have to have won yet, you can use it to find out how much it could cost you to get it delivered. Make sure you check with the vendor that they would be ok with you using a courier, I've had one that was strangely angry with the thought which make me wonder how legitimate their auction was.

When you buy a collect in person on eBay, it takes your money but holds it in escrow until the item is collected so you can just give the code to the courier to give when they collect the item or arrange with the vendor how you're going to exchange the code.
