I have a big problem in the winter with cold feet and chilblains so keep looking at electric socks.. Ideally these might plug into the bike , but perhaps thats a bit too optimistic!!
Has anyone tried electric socks?

I have a pair of electric insoles here that I have never used. They have battery packs (3 x AA each) that strap on round your ankles.

They came with an electric jacket that I bought, which is very good.

i will send them too you if you PM me....

Cheers Alan,
I have some HQ rechargeables which should work well with them. My max time out is about 30 minutes when its down near Zero so hopefully I can improve on that..

I know where your coming from :( raynauds syndrome
Cometh the winter I use the insoles for walking/standing around cold woodland. Mine only heat the balls of my feet but walking around keeps the blood flowing and my toes warm.
As the blood dosent flow so well in my feet while cycling my toes still suffered when it was frosty, untill last winter when I discovered neopreen fishing socks :). Put them on warm feet and they stay warm for ages and no batterys required ;)

Mmm, Thats a fancy name.. Being an outdoor worker I always suffered chilblains in the winter which turns out to be a symptom of poor circulation.
In sub zero temperatures I can only be out an hour no matter what I am wearing before my toes wander off on their own and cease to exist..
I have been looking at the E-Socks for about 3 years, but the reviews are so varied and mostly poor,so assuming the cheap ones are no good, is it worth £100 to try some?o_O

I make my living from industrial electronic control systems. During the commissioning phase of a project I spend a lot of time stood/sat still at a laptop, testing code. Often outdoors, or in unheated areas.

As you can imagine, in Jan/Feb it can get extremely cold. To combat this I have built my own lithium powered, heated high viz jacket, using carbon heating tape imported from Russia.

During a particularly cold snap last year I pulled into my local rugby club, where my son plays and I coach. There were two poor souls directing traffic in the car park, dressed in normal clothes and clearly freezing.

I lent them each a heated high viz jacket. Within a minute or two they both had the familiar 'ebike smile'.

I don't suppose you can buy this tape as a man in the street?

Or only through industrial contacts. ?

I would love some to make my own heated clothing

I'll see if I can find it.....hang on .....

Based in Russia, and I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first. but 'He Who Dares....' and all.

Delivered promptly, exactly as ordered. Seems like a genuine guy.
