Restricted power bikes are only for those who do not have a full licence i.e. an 'A' rated licence.

Years ago you could have a mopedy thing. We called them sixteener specials and to be legal they had a speed restriction, but if course the kids soon found a way of de restricting them. . It's nothing new.

Almost all cars are restricted to 155mph nowadays. Only a few so called supercars aren’t. But even the autobhans are increasingly speed restricted now….

Frantic mopeds made a horrible hornet sounding thing like that. I forget the real name. Fantic I think. But those things didn’t become another category of road vehicle when the kids took the restrictor out. They already were motor vehicles. It may well have invalidated their insurance though. But being teenagers with short attention spans and no responsibilities I don’t suppose they cared….

I can't help but be reminded of the Vicar in Hayley Mills Pollyanna film before She had a word with him.

Trying to get the video to start at 32 mins.

Utter claptrap. Lots of people drive their track day vehicles to and from the circuit.
There was an incident in Germany some years ago when a round of the World Rally series was stopped because the rally cars did not have TUV approval for all the rally mods when driving the road sections between the stages.
No WRC event ever returned to Germany....rallying all but died in Germany.
So there is a precedent for German police to inspect the certification of parts used upon motor vehicles.
In the UK most track day vehicles are driven to the circuits and are road legal.
As a complete aside I competed in the last competitive road rally in the UK....in the middle of the night in East Anglia we pretty much ignored all road regs....I was driving a 280 hp Escort 2,2.1 BDG,Cibie lights with massive range, flat across x-roads.....the police decided enough was enough, they put a speed trap on one of the long straights,I was clocked at 143 mph and I wasn't the quickest.
They got us all together at the finish hotel and stated that whilst such events were historically based,it could continue no more, they didn't prosecute us but stated that at the next event 70 mph would be enforced.....overnight road rallying on public roads was finished.
I only state this because there are precedents that the police will take action if a line is crossed and they are given instructions from on high to stop an activity which has become a nuisance.

I was accepted into the boy racer club at 16 on my Ariel 250, and sadly I must confess to still being a member thanks to my ebike getting me up the hills and allowing me to come down then like meatloaf.
and long may it continue. age is but a number.

I had a quick spin last night on my weedy hub-gear restricted classic bosch, smashed a load of KOM's by a considerable margin. I can only imagine the speed that some of these powerful bikes can get you up the hills.

and to those who keep telling people to get a motorbike, sadly you just don't get it, and who are you to tell people how to live their lives.

ETA my Dad had an Ariel 250 too.

Was it an Ariel Bleeder? God they were ugly things. The old Red Hunter from a few years earlier was a good looking bike.
