Channel 5 has a program called 'The Gadget Show' to be on at 8pm Monday evening and it is about 'Going Green'.

The short trailer I saw had what looked like an electric bike whizzing around.

Might be worth watching but be prepared for 'silly' presenters doing what is put across very much like a kids show and with unpleasant camera work i.e. too fast, wobbly, dizzy, etc.

Whatever happened to good programs like 'Tomorrows World'?

Absolutely - I'm sure Raymond Baxter and Michael Rodd wouldn't have put up with wobbly camera work!! From something I saw on another thread, I believe the £5000 Optibike will be featured - which will certainly make for interesting viewing. The thing I find most astonishing about this bike is that it has a UK distributor - I mean, who would pay that sort of money for a bike that is so completely and utterly illegal? Its one thing losing a few teeth from the rear sprocket of a Kalkhoff, but riding round on a 30mph superbike that's designed to attract as much attention as possible does seem to be tempting fate.

Of course I'd love one really - but i'd be frightened to death of getting involved in accident or even being pulled over for speeding.

The Gadget Show!

I've just watched The Gadget Show and their piece on Electric Bikes. A very disappointing presentation - more like a Circus Show.
I think we should keep to this website for sensible and meaningful reviews.

Yes, it was a rather wasted hour of gimmickry and silliness in the end.

Still, it's called the Gadget Show, and I tend to think of the word gadget as usually indicating something more of a toy than being really useful, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised.

What we need is a Technology Show, a third millennium Tomorrows World.

Yes, I regret I watched it too. I learned very little, but gained the necessary wisdom not to watch the show again. To think that I used to think Tomorrow's World was silly.

I made a point of watching it and yep was disappointing as I doubt that slot would persuade anyone to change from a car to a leccy bike.

Even the "shopper" bike they briefly showed was an eyesore with the cylinders protruding out the back.

But gotta say that jet powered bike looked like a whole lotta fun and I bet all of us would love a go, I certainly would :D

The Urban Mover UM36 has already appeared on The Gadget Show twice now, the particular bike they used in the show was the one I had a test ride on back at the beginning of last year.

Here's one of the sections the bike was featured in: YouTube - Gadget Show _ Electric Bike Test

I missed Monday's Gadget Show so I'll download it. Have to agree it's really not a programme to take seriously, as a gadget hoarder I like watching the show to see what's new/interesting/fun and also how they try to be unbiased (try being the operative word).
