Certainly a lot of love and positivity there. :D I really struggle to comprehend why people get so beat up and emotive over pedelcs. I wonder how they deal with real issues within their lives.

You would never be able to respond or put your side of the case across to some of those people commenting on there. It would just be completely wasted words, that would just go sailing way over their heads.

As an aside but on the same negative theme, FB shut my page down yesterday. :(

Blimey Eddie, what did you do to deserve that? If Britain First manage to keep theirs up you must be causing some serious trouble to the powers that be at FB towers ;)

Its funny because most of the people commenting are mountain bikers and they'll have forgotten this is exactly the sort of hate MTB got when it started from the roadies, just as Snowboarders got from skiers and roller bladers get from skakeboaders.

No one seems to like change even when they themselves are the result of a similar previous evolution.

Oddly it appears from the email that they sent me, that it has more to do with the profile page itself, rather than the name. The name probably got picked up upon though, and I suppose that the two are linked, no mention has been made of that. They have suggested downloading the existing content, and then create a second (business) page, where my current content will be uploaded to.
That is where I am now stuck, as the FB system is not downloading the info, and I can't log in to move things forward, until I have received their confirmation email. I'm a bit stuck until they have carried out whatever that they need to at their end, as I'd rather not loose everything.

SW, not a chance that I'd use my real name on there. Not with my family!!!!! :D

It's the concept of a bicycle being defiled by a motor that upsets them. Cycling enthusiasts tend to view motor vehicles in rather negative ways, seeing bicycles as being superior and pure in social and environmental terms.

It's primarily a British problem due to the view of bicycles as being sport/fitness/exercise related. Where bicycles are regarded as transport such as in the Netherlands, there's no problem, with cyclists and the bicycle trade enthusiastically adopting pedelecs.

If pedelecs had always been the Chinese scooter style of machines I doubt British cycling circles would have expressed an opinion.

Your German is better than mine :p

I can't understand why anyone wants to ride off road on a bumpy slippery surface, tar sealing is so nice and smooth. Is my kiwi farmers son who used to chase cattle on a Honda 125 side showing? I mean it wasn't fun it was work back then

A lot of cyclists have become so up themselves these days slating anything and anyone that is different from them.
But the internet has a lot to do with that...... its easy to slate someone else's choices from the anonymity of being behind your computer.

But i see it in motorcycle forums as well..... owners of different makes and owners of different styles of bikes all reckon theirs is the best and everyone elses are crap.
Yet in real life, whether at an mc rally or at at a bike meet, where there's all these different styles and makes of bikes..... everyone gets on splendidly.

Using their instructions, I have now have the account back up again, or rather two accounts, one personal, and now the original one that has blogger in the title, followed by my original username. Quite how adding one word to the title makes any difference, is beyond me.

So that's two accounts, just to use one, all the original content was downloaded onto my computer and I can't upload it back onto the site, which means that I now need to grab a six year old kid off the street to show me how to do it. All this hassle, just for the sake of one word.

Facebook advised me to change to a Business page from a personal page and advised me to download the old info from the original page (friends, messages etc), but I can't see how to retreive the info to my new page.

Hi Leanora,

Unfortunately, this feature isn't currently available. I would suggest providing that feedback to tour product team through this form:https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/354963731183415/?ref=u2u

Many of the product and feature changes we've introduced over time have been driven by feedback from people like you and I know the product teams appreciate direct feedback such as this.

wtf is the point of downloading it then?? stupid fb lol:rolleyes:

I've seen this mentioned when someone has died, and relatives want to see all their facebook stuff after the account has been closed.

Ah ha! Some may be starting to realise why I never wasted my time with facethingy. Blogger would have been my choice but I have just stuck to a plain old html web site for my other activities. The php one was hacked so often I dropped php for personal stuff.
