I think we tend to lose sight of the fact that ebikes are fun given the amount of discussion on models, drives, prices, etc. Last week we enjoyed our first visit unaccompanied by our 16 year old grand-daughter and on the one dry day of her stay I took her out for a 10 mile ride, with her using my wife's Freego Eagle for her first go on an ebike. To say she enjoyed it is putting it mildly! The big grin said it all and she's now plotting to get her Dad to buy her one when she starts university in a couple of years' time. A convert at an early age!

Spot on;

My oldest daughter recently joined weightwatchers; she's a big girl & I've been trying to get her out on my 8fun mtb for a while.
Not having been on a bike for 20 years or so, she was understandably dubious but, on Saturday we dawdled round the Goss Moor Trail - 7 miles fairly flat - and she loved it.
In fact, she went in to Halfords yesterday & bought an 'ard 'at.

So true Jim. I sold my bike a few years ago, because it wasn't quite right for me. The truth is, I have really, really missed it and have missed all the fun, aimless rides I used to have on it.

So last Friday, I decided just to buy a new machine. Doubtless this one too wont be exactly right for me, it isn't cool, it isn't exactly big enough for me, but I'll just enjoy the spring & summer doing 20-30 mile jaunts on it, with a stupid grin on my face and am sure I'll be all the better for it....

That might have entirely different connotations for anyone in their 'yoof' during the nineties....
You have lost me there, I was an old man even then.

Yes I to think that " E-bikes are fun", my one disappointment, with the website as a newbie is that the majority of threads are all tekkie based little about actual cycling, likes & dislikes of your bikes, where you bike, how far, how often, cycling routes, access to cycle route maps, do cycling clubs accept members on e-bikes ?, many members are I believe are mature in years are there problems related to this ref cycle routes & clubs or WHY, any thoughts?

You'll find lots of posts about us out playing on our bikes when the better weather arrives (2 weeks time I believe). If you check back to the posts from last summer you'll find posts with stories of adventures and pictures too.

Feel free to start your own threads, I'm sure there are plenty who would enjoy those topics....

I have always referred to it as the 'Stupid Grin', because you just can't stop smiling. It's a clear sign that having fun is good for you in so many ways.

I have also heard the term "Cheshire Cat Syndrome".:)
The Warm Glow Grin - you just feel so darn good!

I think the forum is very much whatever we make it, there's definitely a place for those kind of posts on here. I really love reading about other members' jaunts on their bikes, especially when a few pics are added. I take delivery of my new bike on Friday, I can't wait to have my first few adventures on it...

Was out today on the towpaths of Dewsbury today, then on the Spen Valley Greenway, with me on my converted Carrera and my daughter Emma on her dutch ladies bikes (weighs a ton, SLA!) and did a good 12 miles before she was cursing me for only giving her one gear!!

Great Day, yesterday was fabulous bright sunny spring day I had found an NCR route 67 close to me so I gave it a try very enjoyable although lots of walkers & loose dogs about most were friendly & cooperative apart from the "Ramblers assoc Mafia" who as a group blocked the wide route, and only grudgingly gave way to me when I pointed out the numerous route 67 yellow & black signs I noted they also did not give way to families walking along the route. What a difference a day makes almost non stop blustery showers:(.
