Cycling in southern Spain for both fitness/sport and leisure/utility has grown enormously over the years I have lived here. With a high level of northern European ex-pats living here, electric-assisted bikes have become very popular among that age group and even the rather high-end, road-race bike shops have taken that on board, carrying a decent variety of EAPCs with Bosch and Yamaha drives everywhere. BH Emotion in various guises are pretty abundant but the prices for all the Ebikes are rather steep, probably in keeping with the expensive, manually-powered racers these shops have as their stock in trade.
Due to a current crack-down on road traffic offences which includes all forms of transport, I finally bought myself a helmet as plod don't like cyclists mixing it with vehicular traffic on main roads. In my car this morning, I got pulled over for a brief check but it was for show really - just to let other motorists see they are about and making themselves busy. It is required though as driving standards are declining and that's from a very low starting point! If one didn't know better, it could be thought that driving one-handed with a cellphone glued to an ear is compulsory.
