Ebike Question

Have just had my ebike over a week after research I opted for Orbea Gain F30 mainly as till wanted to do as much normal cycling as possible. How many other just use the E motor when just in need oh help rather than using the motor the whole time?

I kinda get where your coming from. It depends on personal circumstances, for me it takes a whole lot of strain off my dodgy knees and hips, even on the flat.

With slight assistance on the flat and a fair bit more on hills I can do 25 mile runs and still feel I've had a fair amount of excercise but without any assistance I would have to give up cycling altogether

Unless my battery is running low, I leave the power switched on throughout a ride rather than keep switching it on for the hills and smaller inclines. I normally ride 25-30 miles in undulating countryside which wouldn't be possible with an e-bike.

Interesting question. I guess (it is no more than a guess) that it is a very small proportion of ebike riders, but may account for a significant proportion of miles. I never ride without some assist (often lowest level), but our solo ebike is heavy (motus)

The most important thing ebikes have done is getting people out riding when the prospect of facing those inevitably hills or dreaded head wind would have otherwise stopped them even attempting such torture. Allowing exercise (what ever the level) to be actually fun to do. Personally like you I try to use assist as little as possible and use rides as a training exercise, but then I actually enjoy the gym. Horses for courses, but every one can now take pleasure from cycling in the fresh air whatever assist levels used. Quite brilliant invention and innovation

I used oi live just south of Birmingham. The family used to use the canals a lot for leisure rides and I used to get out a bit on utility rides when practical. However 20 years ago we moved to West Wales and our riding just about stopped. Maybe a couple of times a year we'd load up the car and take the bikes somewhere flat - ish, but it was such a faff.
Around 2012 we got the first e-bike for the wife. Went to Anglesea on holiday and I suffered being wafted past by a woman in a summer dress and straw hat, sitting on a dutch style bike, while I (red faced and panting) attempted to keep up with her. Well that was it, I got a kit and we've never looked back.
The prodigious hills of West Wales no longer hold any inhibition (well maybe a couple but I know where the lung busting barstewards are) and we get out a lot.
Long may bureaucracy free e-biking continue.

Most push bikes & ebikes purchased over the Pandemic will be back in the sheds before to long, I haven't seen many out and about much now the roads are getting busier again. The mortons who drive at speed and without due care for other users are out and about again.

With luck. More likely most people will think that perhaps they will use them and won't get round to trying to sell them till later; probably after the batteries are dead from neglect and irreplaceable because they bought a cheap ebike with silly batteries.

Hi. I have just bought a Brightbike GR-8 and didn't get a manual with it. Searching the web doesn't come up with much apart from a review of the bike done in 2004. I think mine is about 8 years old, but hardly ever used. Does anyone know where I can get some more information from and maybe where I can buy spares?

I usually keep the ebikemotion in level 1 all the time, going up a level when needed. I did ride a couple of miles yesterday with no assist, not on purpose, just the way the button cycles through the levels, went to off without knowing. Took a few miles before i realised it felt harder than usual, soon put it back on.
