I try to use it ... but sometimes no matter how hard I try I just cant seem to stop failing! ... I think its because I like it. I hope it encourages others not too ... it a service .. an important service that I am performing ... (did I say failing ,,, sorry.. I mean't falling) ...
:D
Well, it's all we have, so we just have to our best with it!

It's too easy to take completely one sided views on safety issues, the Dutch cycling paths mentioned above being a good example. There are online videos showing Dutch town bottlenecks with bikes and cars mixed in on the road in conditions as scary as any we have in the UK.

Conversely, here in the UK we have some excellent facilities like the one shown below. This fully segregated route for bikes and pedestrians leads to a pair of light controlled short cut bypasses to enable cyclists to completely avoid a major busy roundabout.

So in neither is it all good or all bad, and where conditions aren't good we just have to use our noddle to protect ourselves:

the problem now with Dutch cycle lanes are scooters that are 50cc or under they can use the bike lanes, and boys being boys whizz about and you don't hear them until they are right on top of you.
At least they seem to be crashing a lot, Darwin's theory is doing its work.

An Austrian member has remarked on similar there, scooters, light motorbikes, trail bikes etc all use cycle routes. At least that's not legal in the UK.

Looking through the long list of all the items mentioned and their initial letters, it seems a handy and genuinely useful mnemonic will always be impossible.
How about starting with a generic list like this:
PC TECS as in personal computer technicians where:

P = personal stuff like keys, money, id card, phone, glasses, spare work clothes, work food, etc
C = Clothes (on bike) stuff like helmut, gloves, goggles, jacket etc
T = Tools.
E = Equipment. EBIKE battery(s), bicycle computer, etc .. (in my case PSP and CARDVR)
C = Chargers. EBIKE charger and others (In my case PSP charger, CARDVR charger, etc ..)
S = Spares. Inner tubes, patches, batteries, etc (in my case chainwheels!)

Possibly, but unfortunately the mnemonic isn't e-bike related so a cue would be needed to remember that for many people!

Then each line would need it's own mnemonic to remember the content items.

All this in a world where people can't even remember their PIN number.

What about Pro Connect Tecs :)

A bit of a stretch. :D
PALECS? as in a friendly group of pedelec members :) just need a workd beginning with L meaning tools!

P = personal stuff like keys, money, id card, phone, glasses, spare work clothes, work food, etc
A = Attire (on bike) stuff like helmut, gloves, goggles, jacket etc
L = Tools.
E = Equipment. EBIKE battery(s), bicycle computer, etc .. (in my case PSP and CARDVR)
C = Chargers. EBIKE charger and others (In my case PSP charger, CARDVR charger, etc ..)
S = Spares. Inner tubes, patches, batteries, etc (in my case chainwheels!)

In French "Un outil" is a tool. So I'm guessing Les outil the plural. So L = TOOLS = Les outil. So I'm going with:

P = Personal stuff. Keys, money, id card, phone, glasses, spare work clothes, work food, etc
A = Attire. (on bike) Helmut, gloves, goggles, jacket etc
L = Les outil. Tools in French.
E = Equipment. EBIKE battery(s), bicycle computer, etc .. (in my case PSP and CARDVR)
C = Chargers. EBIKE charger and others (In my case PSP charger, CARDVR charger, etc ..)
S = Spares. Inner tubes, patches, batteries, etc (in my case chainwheels!)

Just need to remember that the third letter of the memory aid is the French word of the word that is trying to be remembered. Simple. Also educational. Also very useful when travelling in France and needing to lend some tools. i.e "avec vous les outil?"

Nice one! I did check all the major languages for a tool word starting with L but drew a blank. The French plural device works ok. Given what happens to so many of our tools, I suppose "Lost" would also have been acceptable as a reminder. :rolleyes:

Many will still have to write it all down though!
