Do you know if the battery on the bike works ? have you a photo on the battery charge port ?
Dont know if it works yet, its certainly been flat (or dead) since its arrived, will take a photo of the charging port when i get home from work, only thing I have found on-line are sales listing which list a 6.8Ah LI-ON battery.

Worst case I have an ok (if a little heavy) bike for short journets

I'd be suprised if you can resurrect the battery - I wonder if you could bin it and fit a standard downtube 36v battery (and get a bit more range) and use the existing connections to the motor and controller ?

Its not something I had considered, bit I will try getting a charge into it first and if it is dead will probably give this a go (after I do a bit of reading)

Hi all, anyone have any luck with battery for the Signal? I had a quote of a recell foe £250. Are the batteries easy to remove? Or has anyone found an alternative yet? Many thanks

Not had any luck yet, removal of the battery is a bit of a pain (assuming I didn't find a harder way to do it) I had to remove the silver plate at the front and then take of the front forks to get access to the battery

Do you have a charger? , If yes could you confirm the power details and size of the plug end that goes into the bike?

Seems I keep digging up this old thread - So I managed to find a local company (DMC Battery replacements Glasgow - highly recommended great service) who re-celled my battery for £180. Connected to the bike and everything powers on ok.

The battery is installed and charges fine, the controller powers on and lets me configure it, the walk assist works and the display registers my speed however I don't actually seem to be getting any assist when riding. I am not sure if anything else is missing of the bike sensor wise should there be magnets or anything around the pedals to send signal to the controller? Is there anyone on the site with one of these with a manual for this or who could look at the attached images and advise?

Also the controller was missing when I got the bike so I purchased a replacement (its a Emotoer KT-LCD7) and I have downloaded the controller manual and followed the basic configuration, some of the later config stuff is way beyond me. Again would these be shown in the bike manual?

Not sure if the connector should be to a sensor or is for brake or throttle control

Controller model

Thanks

KT LCD7 display is only compatible with KT controller.
Does your bike system use a KT controller ?

Fwiw the lcd display is not a controller , it is a display. A switch which sends and receieves signals form the main controller.

Yeah, confirm your controller is also KT otherwise you could be chasing your tail indefinitely,

KT is short for Ketung iirc, many controllers are silver boxes, but KT controllers also come in a down the tube option or in the battery sled (hailong batteries) types too.. If difficult to unbury test the controller/display combo by setting something ? wheel size? saving shutting down, removing the battery and leaving it unpowered for 30 mins to let everything discharge, befor reconnecting the battery and turning on and confirming the setting you changed has remained changed,,
just because your display and controller share a common power and ground connection does not mean your controller is listening to the commands from the display.

But your pic of a bottom bracket is missing the usual pas sensor and it looks like there is an empty socket there too?? or is that from a sensor hidden from view? perhaps more pics,?

Thanks for the response, enjoying the challenge of trying to resurrect the bike, but as the bike manufacturer are defunct documentation on the model is impossible to find

Again thank you so much for the help, there is no silver box so guess I'll need to take the battery out again to find the controller.

Re: the bottom bracket, yes there is a open connector which I though might have been for a sensor, but though because the display was registering speed and allowing the walk mode might have been for something less significant but the PAS sensor makes perfect sense, are they bike or controller specific as I cant find any documentation to see what the manufacturer fitted

Managed to find a review which confirm its a Torque sensing PAS (which probably explains why it was missing), so the fun continue :)

Was your other display a KT LCD 7 ?
Personally I doubt it as KT Kuenteng rarely use TS PAS.

Don't know the bike was picked up by my dad at an auction and the display and bottom bracket were both missing, the controller on it I found on ebay and took a chance as it looked the same as the photos of the bike I found on google. I'll get the controller out tomorrow and see where that leads

Really appreciate all the help though

With a known good battery and a kt display already purchased spending a further circa £50 on a suitable kt controller and cadence based pas sensor (£5-6) is probably your quickest route to success, its just blind luck your current controller shares the same ground, power and speed signal wires as the KT display, without corresponding KT hardware and firmware in the con-troller your display is useless. Probably a lot easier and possbly even cheaper? than tracing an unknown torque sensor??

Trace the leads and wires all back to the controller to determine its shape/size/location and take photos
so a suitable replacement can be suggested, but if built into the bike, a frame bag or bolt on box to contain a more generic silver box might be necessary.

KT are popular replacement because of the wide options for displays and the fully configurable nature, btw if the 'Chenglish' of your lcd-7 manual is a bit much check out the manuals for other kt displays like lcd-3, -5 or -10, it might help complete the bigger picture??

So this is now turning personnel and I am more motivated by beating the bike than actually needing it working.

Good news is after some searching finally found the controller in the down tube and it appears to be a KT (model KT36SVPR-CK02) which I guess is why the display worked and it looks like I now only need a compatible PAS sensor. I found an online review of the bike which said it used "torque sensing pedal assist", question is can I just ignore this and go for a regular PAS sensor and if you do I need a KT compatible one, or just any with the right connection (the sensor socket on the controller is a 6 pin female connector)

This is new information. I've not seen a KT controller with a torque sensor before. If the bike did have a torque sensor, it would probably be integrated into the bottom bracket, so should be still there unless something went wrong with the BB bearings and the previous owner couldn't find or couldn't afford a replacement, so fitted a normal BB.

I'm still mystified by that connector sticking out. It has too many pins for any torque sensor I've seen. It looks more like an LCD or main harness connector. Can you show a close up and some photos of the controller and all the wires attached to it?

Photos below, there a 4 cables from the controller 2 larger power cables (1 to battery, 1 to hub) photos of the other two connectors are attached

Nothing I can find on Google for a standard PAS sensor matches (most have the yellow plug end) and the only Torque sensing ones I can find are Bafang and they dont give an image of the connector

You can buy one of these and all the kit to go with it for about £100. Your LCD will probably work with it, which would reduce the price a lot, but there'salways a risk it won't, so probably a good idea to buy a new one unless cash is tight:

Your controller is only 10A, which is very weak. That might be because the original battery is weak.

The connector you showed looks like an LCD one. Where's the photo of that one hanging out.

I have only seen those cylindrical controller on TBK but not TS ones, so the KT one is a custom OEM option.

KT controllers are called 'Imitation torque' by the Chinese and are known by us as current control.
On their web page their are no TS controller options.
