Hi all I advertised my Erider electric moped as a weeks bidding on ebay I had 2 bids and it went to end of bidding 7 days but didn't hear a thing from the buyer at all. so I cancelled the item, and someone else bought it. a person on ebay who sent me private message he hadn't bid for it. But had messaged me and said if it dont sell he will buy it. which after being let down by the last bidder. he kept his promise and has now bought it Ebay had charged me £15.48 to advertise it. But I was told they should refund the selling fee as I cancelled the sale after not hearing from 1st person. it was sold on 23rd Jan according to Ebay But I had cancelled it. but sold it private I had to wait until 28th Jan before i could cancel sale. But I have not heard from ebay regarding a refund of £15.48

I can't help you as I only sell items when they offer me free sales.

I'd report it as a defect in their service, open the chat window and ask for my refund:

link

Other categories are available through their "Contact us" links. I right click copy my question when chatting to the automated assistant, then paste once I've jumped through it's hoops to get to a real person, because it saves typing it all out again.

As a buyer, chats with actual ebay reps have always got me somewhere. In disputes, ebay favour buyers and themselves. If there's small print you've agreed to, refund might not be possible via ebay - you might have to ask your card issuer... but if the card issuer refunds you, they may charge a fee, and sometimes they block all future online payments.

Well I went to that link you posted. started a chat with someone they said they will phone me in 2 mins it ended up being 20 mins, never got a phone call so chatted to another person and he stated that the £15.48 is a listing fee regardless if the moped didn't sell on ebay. But it got sold private anyway. he gave me a web link to the fees. But once i told him I didnt realise this and he then said ok he will refund me the £15.48. which was kind of him but will have to watch out next time.

That's a great result! Ebay are much nicer than AliExpress - I'm trying to get something refunded from that lot and I'm being ignored. The Chinese government may have instructed them to keep as much money in China as possible? I would give them a few days then open a Paypal case, but it only cost £12, and the item is close to the description in terms of function, so I might not bother. I can't be bothered to wait for 4 weeks of return and exchange.

I advertised a car. The winning bidder contacted me the following day to say he’d bid whilst drunk so his bid isn’t binding and he doesn’t have to follow through with the sale.

You now have to wait 4 days before cancelling and re listing. EBay isn’t what it used to be. It’s so biased towards buyers that it’s full of time wasting twats. You can’t even trash a bad purchaser with lots of negativity either. It will be the last time I use it to sell anything.
