E-MTBs for Kids, but not here.

Bike makers at Eurobike will be targeting kids from 11 years old or even 8 years old in one case as a new e-MTB market with reduced power. I think that's great news.

But in the excessively governed UK that can't happen because we have a ridiculous 14 years minimum age limit. The fun will be reserved for the mainland European kids but denied to ours.

Trouble is that most will have to use a road to get to where they can off-road. That's why the law is a pain, I can't see bike dealers risking selling the kids versions here while the law is as it is.

I can..

1. Disability.
2. Because it's an interesting form of exercise.
3. To keep up with their biker mums and dads.
4. Because biking need not be suffering.
5. To get them out of the house.

Electric bikes are far more fun,and lead to more use,kids would probably get more exercise than one laying unused,could even replace some dads taxi journeys,they are also harder to pull wheelies on in most cases,so may be used more sensibly.

This is one best spec kids emtb I've seen. Lot lighter than factory middrive versions with excellent components. Replace rear wheel with normal one and you have excellent bike for racing.

The brand Ben-E-Bike was created out of genuine need. Ben’s parents were both riding E-Mountainbikes and their little-one was fed up of riding behind his electric parents, so his dad had to come up with an idea and ended up developing an e-bike for his son.
