E-Bikes on Strava

A couple of recent threads has highlighted the fact that some dont like our use of Strava. I know some are not interested and some dont care, but for those that are... If we all made our rides E-Bike rides we would soon build up a network of segments and rides that are e-bike specific and if enough end up on Strava perhaps they would give us an E-Bike default activity...
Just a thought!!

I and several others asked for the e-bike category, and we got that eventually, it was you who alerted me to it when it arrived.
So send them a message and ask for e-bike ride to be added to the default upload, I'll ask too.

Strava is a very useful addition to a ride when used correctly, as in ensuring that all rides are listed as ebike.
Users such as SW don't do pedelec/ebike riders as a whole any favours, by repeatedly ignoring requests to list rides as ebike, then removing flags when the ride has been flagged. It seems just childish to intentionally want to annoy cycle riders that have had to work hard for a given target.
It took just one email to get his account closed, and as it happened I wasn't the only forum member to report his rides.

A default ebike setting would be handy, and now that I have a direct contact name, I'll happily put that suggestion forward.

I can't say that I have any interest in detailing segments, and don't even bother to look at the frequent ones that crop up. My interest is using Strava to log and detail rides, and to share the ride information with other local riders and friends.
That changes when I'm on the pedal mtb, and I'm then quite happy to try for a KOM. Ebike specific KOM's just seem pretty meaningless, as there are too many variables.

I like the collecting of stats for my own amusement but find it a pain to manually change the activity to ebike so just use the default private which sidesteps the problem but doesn't allow me to share with family and freinds.
Hope you can push things we along

You may get some surprise KOM's if you list as e-bike, I made a handful of them from when we were up there for Le Tour.

I find that often when you set the ride to ebike, it appears to save it, then either the bike that you have detailed changes or the ride listing reverts back to a normal ride, and you have to do it again.
There is only one way to do it.. edit ride type first and bike after. It generally stays then . I have 2 bikes and default to the one I use most

Why would you do that, other than wanting to make a complete twat of yourself ?

I can't see the point in doing this. Many people, including me, use the Strava sections for motivation. It can be difficult to summon up the enthusiasm to go out on a training ride some days, and that little bit extra motivation from trying to beat a Strava section can help. I really don't know why you would take pleasure from trying to spoil that for enthusiastic and committed people.

Just remember when you are w@nking over internet pornography and eating biscuits in your mother's spare box room, others are having a more healthy lifestyle. Please don't take additional pleasure from spoiling that for them.

There is nothing new or clever about VPN's. Any fool can set one up using services such as IP Vanish or Hide My Ass.

The second paragraph is classic! Funniest comment on this forum to date. I was drinking a coffee as I read and I ended up with it sprayed all over my newspaper.
