Hi All.I have just (well a couple of months ago)bought a Specialised Big Hit FSR Comp downhill mountain bike ????? and its great on the flat and down hill but oops never thought no good up hill and I mean you cant get uphill at all with it and I'm pretty fit.I bought it because I wanted to get fitter and thought a mountain bike would be great and with full very supple suspension comfortable as well and it is very very good but i was going to sell it again but thought could I put a motor in the front wheel and a bottle type battery with all the electrics attached just to help uphill !!!!!! any thoughts chaps & chapeses ??
On another point I still have my Freego Eagle and after the last change of bike last year I have had no problems with it at all and I still do a fair few miles on it a month so good on them (Freego)
Regards Steve C:cool:

Photos of the bike please.

It might be a candidate for a crank drive conversion and battery in a back pack.

Big hit looks like it uses through axles so hub drives wouldn't be an option.

What axle do you have on the front wheel? If it's the 20mm one, you can't fit a front motor.

I don't know how others feel about front wheel drive offroad uphill, but I find it a tad skittish on the loose stuff. A crank drive should suit you better IMHO.

I have the gng 250w crank drive on my bouncer & it's good fun to ride, if a bit lacking in grunt, even with the shunt soldered to give ~ 17 amps. Bit agricultural in the noise dept. too

Don't use this site's crappy photo hosting. Make a Photobucket account (free) and upload your photos there. Then you can copy and paste a link to get full detail.

Dont do it Steve !

Mind you, a video of you doing it on an electric bike would go down a storm on you tube, thats if you could stay on it and live long enough to get some decent footage
