Trek use a Bosch system
Specialized use Brose again German and in house
Riese Muller bosch etc

Big brands dont use chinese , they dont need too. it does not fit with what these Bike companies represent.
Which is a premium product with a price tag to match

Oh yeah I use to work for Trek, Specialized, Riese Muller :) and now Cube.

Where does Bosch eBike Systems manufacture its eBike systems?

As a division of Bosch, Bosch eBike Systems is integrated into overall company's plant network. The components for our eBike systems are developed at the Bosch eBike Systems headquarters in Reutlingen, Germany. The drives and the batteries are produced and consolidated at the Bosch plant in Miskolc, Hungary. Most of the production and consolidation of the batteries also takes place at the Bosch plant in Miskolc, Hungary, and some in Penang, Malaysia.

  • An interesting term from Bosch there 'production and consolidation of the batteries'
  • Batteries to me are 'battery packs' as in the big lumps that contain multiple battery cells, the BMS (and fuse? - lol) and a case.
  • So Bosch could well be using battery cells produced under their QA systems anywhere in the world including China but still claim they make the batteries (as in battery packs)

I've opened up several Bosch batteries. They have the same cells in them as the Chinese batteries I buy. I've still got a load of cells from them. I used to buy the cells to make my own batteries from a guy in Germany, who got hold of the Bosch factory rejects and disassembled them. The cells were unused in service and half the price of normal new ones.

bugger went to the local ebike shop and so busy told me to go back Tuesday sold 4 bikes in 30 mins all over 5k and paid on cc.

even let one guy fly round the car park on my bike as managed to round off a bolt that holds on a grip on his brand new bike just out the box

both had shitmano rear hubs so they will be back in a couple of months as the wheels are like 50 quid cheap crap on a 6k bikes.

i got the old guy a free set of peddles tho and the bags they had displayed on the rack :p

giant had a load of dodgy charges last year as over charging the batts and bricking them on top of the giant cracks in there brand new bike frames and making ppl wait 6 months for new frames to get made.

just because you pay 10k for it does not mean its not a heap of crap that will fall apart go over to embn forums and look at all that broken crap it never ends. :p
They better start using Bosch Systems like trek and all the big brands . Specizlised have lost there way a bit trading on the name . Go Bosch.

Many e-bike batteries do have an internal fuse, some even have two, one in the charging circuit and one on the supply side. A few have the latter accessible on the outside.
That is a copy of a post made by @flecc bank in 2013.

Almost 10 years later, is it still the case ?

A lot of stuff comes from China, not worth obsessing about that. In my previous reply to you, I pointed out that most big brands battery cells are made in China, bosch and bmz have factories in China making parts and sub-assemblies for their European facilities. Two thirds of the worlds chips are made by Taiwan. I assemble bikes from Chinese parts, they do the same. It's the design and quality control that count.
As for low wages in bikes, go to Vietnam and Cambodia, no longer China, Taiwan, South Korea.
