So they smashed your door because of someone else who lives in your house? The JSA sanction - I hope is a separate issue... I'd be even more concerned for this country if the Jobcentre started kicking doors in.

So the 3rd party that the DWP use, banged on your door to get you to sign to confirm that you have received notification of a sanction decision, because your stepfather (or you) were sanctioned? Seems a bit over the top, and must have been alarming. Sorry if I'm not getting what happened.

no the dwp gave me a letter to attend a providers office which i did and refused to sign there contract and was told to leave.

the dwp then tried to tell me it was the law to sign there contract! and sanctioned me for not doing so.

ppl on past programmes have had providers at there door for sigs so they got the funding for there scam as dont get paid if you dont sign on the dotted line or they fooked up the paper work.

It certainly sounds as though the DWP are making it as hard as possible on anyone receiving any sort of help from the State, which everyone has to count on at some point - this is something that those who make the rules would be wise to remember.

but 99.0% will just sign it and not realise what is involved when you sign those contracts it then does become mandatory that you attend.

and if you dont they can recommend a sanction doubt for 3 months if you fail to attend again.

total stich up tbh but after the tribunal none of them want me on there case load they wont even talk to me any more all i get is sign this n fook off ;)

yup i done it on purpose to go to tribunal that anything the dwp send you on is not mandatory, that only happens when you sign there contracts.

you have to attend induction but buy law you are not required to sign anything as contract law and must be done of free will.

That takes a lot of guts. Most people will have just signed it. Some of these work placement/training things can be good: someone I know ended up traning as a security guard (course costed £200, took a week) and eventually opened his own firm. He was unempployed for years before that. Another one got a permenent job in a meat packing factory, until it went bust, but he's looking for another job with savings from that job and with something new on his CV as recent employment. Of course there are a lot of other people who dont get anything after a placement, so it's not a 100% route into something financially useful.

It is not a mandatory requirement for claimants to fill in or sign any provider
forms or documents when participating in a provider led mandatory activity or
programme.

Because it is not mandatory, there is no recorded data held detailing any
action DWP or a provider can take against those who have declined to sign
said forms or documents.

Participants are required to do all they reasonably can to give themselves the
best chance of finding work. Should a participant decline to sign the provider’s
forms, this does not mean that they do not have to participate in the
programme. The referral letter given to a participant by Jobcentre Plus details
the potential consequences for failing to participate as required.

On the 21/11/16 I was to referred to Skills Conditionality, a programme run by Adult Education, Gloucester, by Gloucester Jobcentre Plus. No prior assessment of my skills need was conducted by Jobcentre Plus prior to this referral.

On attending Adult Education on 28/11/16 I requested that a skills assessment be carried out in order to identity any suitable training opportunities. This request was denied. Instead I was presented with an enrolment form, the sole purpose of which was to obtain funding for Adult Education . I declined to sign this enrolment form. Adult Education then informed me that I would be reported to Jobcentre Plus for “failing to participate in the Skills Conditionality programme”. I made it clear to Adult Education that I was willing to participate in the Skills Conditionality programme but I was unwilling to sign the enrolment form.

It is my understanding that under the Data Protection Act, and as referenced by the Freedom of Information request obtained from the DWP (enc)* that there is no need for me to enter into contracts with third-party ‘providers’ to the DWP or to waive my rights as to the sharing of my personal and sensitive data.

Summing up

1: DWP failed to carryout the requested procedure of identifying a skills need/barrier prior to enrolment be that done by themselves or having me referred to a provider to carry this out. Furthermore DWP failed to record the results of this skills screening to identify a main skills barrier preventing them going into work.

2: If JCP expected said provider to carryout this skills screening then this provider breached their agreement with JCP/DWP as well as SFA who also require certain assessment/s to be carried out prior to enrolment for funding purposes/contractual rules. Further more this provider knows SFA funding does not cover the cost of any prior assessment or enrolment process.

Additional summing up

1: A signature must be given of free will as must be the supplying of personal documents but cannot be said to be such if made to do so under any form of duress.

2: Pursuant to the data protection act schedules 1, 2 and 3 personal and or sensitive data shall be processed fairly and lawfully and, in particular, shall not be processed unless one condition is met in schedule 2 and or 3 dependent on nature of data (personal or sensitive)

3: Clearly on the enrolment a signature is required not only for the learners agreement but also for data processing. Irrespective of reason the learner must consent of their own free will and not under any form of duress.

Being unemployed sounds much tougher than I remember - I was suddenly unemployed in the early 90s: the house was tied into a job which suddenly ended which meant I needed a new job and somewhere to live ASAP, so I put on my suit and visited all of the employment agencies in the middle of Coventry, CV and references in hand, because what they normally do with CVs which sent in by email or post - they throw away nearly all of them, because they get thousands. But recruiters make a commission the Agency gets a cut of your pay, so if you look like they can make money out of you, you'd get sent out for interviews. If you already have a reference, they can make money sooner! Out of 10 agencies, three recuitment "Consultants" (always ask to speak directly to a Recruiter at the front desk, otherwise your CV will be thrown away) put me on their little shared excel spreadsheet of people to be sent out for interviews. The second interview got me a great job which lasted months and the third got me an even better job. I could have applied as normal, but I didn't have time. I don't know what the agencies' terms are these days but they are the fastest route to a job when the economy is good. Not sure what I'd do now if everything went the way of the dodo. Maybe I could do deliveries with my new ebike? Minimal contact with people, loads of exercise - restaurants even give you free food. Yes, I'd be a delivery rider. Huge increase in demand for takeaways these days... I'd visit every takeaway which served food I like, and do deliveries powered by Bafang for sure.

Back on topic... After extensive experience of MC and cycle helmets I have arrived at one I am extremely happy with.

It is the Kask lifestyle product. In short a semi-enclosed open face helmet with full flip up visor. It may only have four vents, but they are enough for me in all but the hottest of weathers.

It is a premium product, but the money buys you lovely Italian design that shows and nice touches like the soft leather chinstrap webbing. Also if you're prepared to shop around you can obtain alternative visors, like smoky mirror (my favourite), polarised, or orange high vis.
