If you're thinking of getting an electric bike soon, it seems that some of the dealers at the show are offering very good show discounts - around £200 off all bikes in their range.

You can find a list of exhibitors on the show website. I've seen Ebikes Direct, Batribike, Oxygen, Ebike Shed (BH Emotion), A2B, Juicybike, Velocious, Stromer, Haibike and others here. I'm not saying that they're all offering discounts, but it's worth a call.

Do you reckon that Ebike Shed have got to stage yet, of paying the show visitors to take the BH range of bikes away. ;)

If you happen to go past the stand, take a look at the new rear wheel axle layout. I noticed the other day from a photo that it appears that a spanner is no longer required for rear wheel removal on the hub drive bikes. That's a nice, sensible design detail.

It's funny you should say that because when I was trying to talk to him, he was quite disrespectful about forum members. He didn't mention any names, but it was clear to me that he was referring to you in particular.

His disrespect didn't end there either. Andrew asked him how much current the controller gave on his new bike. Out came a tirade of bullshit. 10A was mentioned, so I told him that that couldn't be right. We then tried to explain why, but he wasn't a good listener. Instead he told us his qualifications and that he new about volts and amps.

The next day he came to the Oxygen stand threatening to have me and Andrew thrown out of the show for asking questions on his stand that he didn't know the answers to.

My interpretation of the professionalism and knowledge at the top of their business, would put me off buying their products. I can see why BHEmotion has been such a bad experience for customers when they choose partners like that.

I always ask questions I know the answer to in order to find how they respond. I'm glad I wasn't there, might have been fisticuffs.

Juicybike made me think of the juicy cargo bike:

http://www.juicybike.co.uk/electric-bikes/our-full-range-of-best-value-ebikes

Which is a cargo bike I'm lurking into but unfortunately it's not from them and price tag is so high (3000USD) I'd never get a bike like that.

It got quite close to fisticuffs when Andrew who has owned the domain www.electricbikeshed.co.uk for a very long time, went back this morning to ask why ebikeshed had more or less copied his name. I wish I had gone with him to see. Andrew was ordered off his stand.

I don't think that I'll loose any sleep over it. :)

Did you get to look at the rear hub though before it kicked off. I can't find the images that I had seen of it, but trying too find anything about BH bikes isn't exactly easy. The search just takes you to 'white goods' ;)

Ref the domain name, that is pretty naughty, and why would they do it.
I guess that the answer is that they are hoping that some of the other companies success will rub off on them, whilst the sad fact is, that it is simply detrimental to the company that the name was copied from, and does that company no favours at all. I can fully understand Andrew being narked by it, and who wouldn't be.

Andrew did a lot to get his site up the Google list.

I had a look at the hub. Unfortunately I couldn't go back to the stand because I would have punched the guy. The wire doesn't come out of the axle. Instead, it came from somewhere inboard. I didn't notice any quick release. I thought it was two nuts like normal, but I'm only going on memory, so I mightbe wrong. I'm sur I would have noticed a QR skewer.

Talking of Haibike, I spotted they've released an entry-level MTB at £1850, featuring a Yamaha central crank drive. Saw it at OnBike on Friday, really nice looking machine - think it might be this one.

Gah! You'd think I'd be happy with my KTM 29-er (indeed, I am) but I'm like a kid in a sweet-shop when I see a new shiny thing...

We discussed that arrangement a month or so ago. Personally, it makes me nervous, but I don't yet know what arrangement it has to resist torque. I guess BH Emotion have done their homework, but we'll have to wait to confirm that.

It is not a normal quick realese,Its the same as before. You just dont need a tool to realese the wheel. You can see it better in this video at 1.55 min

There seems to be a torque arm on the left side tied to the brake caliper. If you don't need to undo its fixing screw, the arm would have to be be slotted underneath. When I used double torque arms with 14mm x 10mm instead of 12mm x 10mm, the axle was able to turn through about 30 deg, which broke the drop-outs. A torque arm that was open at the bottom would be worse. That was with well-tightened nuts too. They were good quality hardened steel torque arms. As I've said, they've probably done their homework, but I'm still nervous enough that I wouldn't want to risk my money to prove it. If i could see exactly how it worked, I might have a bit more confidence.

I believe one of the Kalkhoff rear hub motor bikes had a quick release, or as boris neatly puts it, a tool-free release.

I think the motor was branded Xion, or similar, which they sold for a while.

That was what I had hoped that you might have been able to do at the show. :)

I should have expanded my earlier comment. I like the principle and look of it, but couldn't see how that short length of lever (for want of another word) could ever give enough leverage to either tighten the nut, and if it were tight enough, you would have either stamp on it or carry a tube to undo it, which would defeat the object. I suspect that in BH style, it's doomed for failure.

If the guy on the BH stand wasn't such a waker, I'd have gone back and had a look for you, but I think I'd have got ordered off his stand too. I guess we'll find out sooner or later when somebody takes the risk and buys one.

There were a couple of other interesting bikes there too. This ones must be a motorcycle because it's called a Francis Barnett. Hands up if you used to own one.

This one also could be a motorcycle, but spme will think that it looks cool anyway:If it floats your oat:
