Disc brake pads?

I picked up some Shimano M05 pads recently from my LBS for about £8, but I see there are loads on eBay going for as little as £3. Im guessing they are unbranded, but are they worth trying

I use unbranded B01S from China and pay about £1.25 a pair by buying in 6 or 10 sets, no issues with braking and stop me fine on road or off. On road I get about 1200 miles use and off road where conditions are more abrasive about 500miles.

The M05 & B01S are the same, they fit Tekto Auriga and some Clarkes brakes and also M515, M525 and all M series 300/400 hdb's.

I also bought a bulk supply of the cheap ones. They work perfectly. I got about 3500 miles out of the last pair. I had to dismantle them to clean the caliper after a build-up of winter salt. They were only half worn, but I decided to replace them while I had the caliper off as I had so many spares.

As is often the case, d8 seems to be very lucky when it comes to buying cheap Chinese kit.

I know of a couple of riders who have given up on unbranded pads due to short life.

If you want to try different compounds, Discobrakes are a well-regarded supplier although not as cheap as they once were.

I use resin hence the wear, I tried the Mardi chilli seller and the sintered/metallic I didn't get on with. The efficiency and bite for me wasn't there like the resin I prefer.

I’ve been using the very same ones for the last 500 miles or so. They are working fine and no obvious signs of them wearing out excessively. Visually they look as thick as when I fitted them (the resin ones)

Not a believer in cheap possibly substandard safety kit, and I consider brakes to be safety kit.
I ride the moorland roads and around here they are steep and twisty so a brake failure would result in a massive crash and anyway I dont consider £6 ish to be expensive so I will bookmark this link.. Thanks.

Pads arrived and fitted today, they seem to be working perfectly. Much cheaper than genuine Shimano branded pads. The ones I replaced were back to the metal
