Derestrict via new controller?

Hi Wizard,

in the control box under your battery, carefully pull out the jumble of wires, there are several cables which exit the back hole, find the fat cable which leads to the hub motor, one set of cables ends in small white plug which then enters the controller, the wires are coloured red, black & usually yellow. disconnect this plug, now try your throttle.

you should now have no pedelec, just throttle, give it a whirl.

good luck,
beeps
My bikes still under warranty so I'm reluctant to tamper with the wiring but if this works then once the bike hits it's first birthday the covers will be coming off. I think I am getting the same drag effect.
.

Well i've managed to disconnect the pedelec ( just going to give it a try without it and see if i like it ) , but as to derestricting the bike no luck , i did find a blue cable with a variable resistor built into it but this was already unplugged , plugging it in reduced the output to the wheel .
I've posted a picture of my cables on here Wizards Caravan Repair , i've worked out what most do , what i could really do with is a wiring diagram of the control box .

OK, there are wires exiting the cable from the hub motor, the three thick ones seperately connected are the phase power to the motor, the white plug with the thin wires, can't quite see how many there are, will be the signal, this is the plug to disconnect.

let us know how you get on,
beeps

my apologies, ignore my previous post, (this'll teach me to leap on this board before i've had my sugar-puffs) upon donning my reading spectacles and zooming in on your photo, i realise that you have a brushless hub motor, the white plastic connector is the Hall effect signal wire and this needs to remain connected,

So, you are now looking for a three wire in-line plug, this may be red, black & green (sometimes yellow) it will be a black plug, there may be two of these, one will be the throttle cable, the other should be the pedal sensor and can be unplugged...

apologies for my earlier mis-advisement,
beeps

I may have already voided my warranty as I've modified the brakes and the back light wiring - oops
Oh well, never mind. I may take the covers off next week and check out the wires :)

No worries mate , i did say in my post "Well i've managed to disconnect the pedelec" i should have said pedelec sensor . You were correct , the plug was black with green red and black wires . Thanks for your help .

Even with all the heavy rain I managed to squeeze myself and the bike into the shed, so I could take a geek at the wires.
It appears someone has already disconnected the pedelec, as when I took the wires out I found it cut in two. So I can’t disable the pedelec as it’s not even working
Got a nice blue wire that looks similar to the one Wizard was on about.

Here’s a picture of the wires.
BikeWires on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I have disconnected it (for now) but can’t try it to see if anything’s changed because of the heavy rain here. Possibly won’t make much difference as all my riding is up long, steep hills at 6 to 7mph.
One day I will get up enough nerve to stop and measure the percentage - probably liken to the north side of K2 :(

Thanks for the pictures Wizard.
I have copied them so you can remove them.
I don't have those adjustment pot things in my bike but thanks anyway.
Just need the rain to stop so I can go out and play :)

I managed to test the bike today and it was worse that ever, so the blue wire has been reconnected - all back to like it was.
Not many flat stretches’s here in sunny Cornwall anyway  , so I’ll leave it as it is - who needs speed anyway  . The bike manages the hill’s well enough for me – me peddling hard (good work out for the old ticker) but still not breaking into a sweat :) - So glad I got an electric bike :D
