De Restrict an Urban Mover UM33X with throttle fitted

hi guys,

i have just aquired an urban mover UM33X from halfords, and then got in contact with Urban mover for the throttle kit, now i have fitted it, and now i am looking for this 'white' wire' that needs disconnected to un restrict it,

can you guys give me some pointers

Hi Jason, I just connected up my throttle on my UM Fast4ward ... Here is the connection:

Is it as simple as "snipping" the white cable?

Hi The whit wire is The variable voltage from the throttle if you cut it the throttle will stop working

to need to find a single white and possibly black wire it will be connected and need unplugging

And I had my snips all ready! ... Frank, on my 24v system the throttle can be used on slight inclines but anything more and its a no go. I dont think de-restricting is going to make any difference to me. Do you?

Hi I think if you unplug the pedal sensor it will work throttle only that will be a 3 pin connector

There may still be a single wire to de restrict the speed For Use in Non European country's

As Frank says, usually a pair of wires with a connector that need to be unplugged to derestrict. Here's an example from another make of bike, in this case below the battery by the bottom bracket:

ok here is mine, i know electrics, and i am stuffed if i can find this wire, only suspect i can find is one of the wires to the motor, maybe the yellow one? take a guess chaps

your saying there is no de restrict wire there? let me go have a go with the torque sensor unplugged

edit: doesnt seem to make any differance

to resolve this thread, it seems the UM33X has no white wire, and is in fact not restricted.

This applies to a number of e-bikes including my own one, the maximum speed set by the battery voltage. You may have noticed the bike is noticeably faster on a freshly charged battery, it's best speed dropping off slightly within about a mile but then staying more constant until the battery goes low when it slows down again.

indeed the case, its just not as snappy if i dont charge it, even when only one light is off the charge indicator, its goes sluggish

I got a throttle today for my 2nd hand UM36X, in the process of installing it I took a couple of snaps of the 10mph restriction wire for future reference to anyone wishing to derestrict their Urban Mover:

After derestriction you may get up to 20mph on the flat with a good, fully charged battery just from the throttle, pedal at the same time and you can break 20mph.

My UM36 is over 4.5 years old and my UM36X is over 2 years old, both have identical controllers, but it appears the controller design has changed since then, removing the white restriction wire, certainly with the 36v UM36SX not having a throttle option.
Personally I find the throttle invaluable with the steep hills round here, without the throttle I have to push a heavy bike up certain long steep hills, but with the throttle the bike carries itself up and I just have to walk it.

Just also found the white wire which was already disconnected.

I have an urban mover 26 folding bike and the controller says its 24v. I was wondering was yours the same or did you have a higher voltage already on the bike?

I was wondering if I could put 36v through it? But it seems if I didi I would blow the controller
