As Alan says I'd want to see and ride one before buying.

Years ago I was all set on buying a Giant halfway with similar single sided wheels, but when I rode it I thought it was just too wobbly

no test ride

unable to test ride as I am currently recovering from spinal surgery C5-C7 top of spine, so the bike seems a bargain at HALF PRICE ?? reguards Neil

How can it be a bargain just because it is half price? It might be a complete load of rubbish to begin with.

OK it may be £3000 worth of rubbish.

There are plenty of nice bikes in the UK where you can go and see them, talk to the sellers and have a go on them. If any problems arise you know where to go to get it sorted.

I would stay closer to home if I were you.

oops not quite half price just over £1000 , but thought a folder would suit me due to having multiple ops on spine which has left me with a weak right leg and poor posture , neil

A small wheel bike is usually better at climbing if you have hills to tackle, but there are plenty on the market which you can try first. There's no substitute for trying out various makes to find what's best for yourself, and heing sure of ongoing support is important for warranty issues and replacement batteries.

That DB Zero bike is accompanied by too much hype for my liking, and it does seem rather gimmicky.

Those images look like they are computer generated, I don't think they are photos. The light on the seat post does not look natural.

The reason for having a folder is either because you need to carry it, or have limited storage. Wouldn't a step through design suit you better, and provide far more choice and better value ?

step through did cross my mind but would use e bike mostly on cycle paths so would have to have help loading bike onto rack, so thought a folder would be easier to transport as it would go into boot and be lighter to handle, neil

In no particular order:

If it has been available since 2009, according to one of the images, why are there no photos as opposed to computer generated ones?

It looks like a student project, but unlike most design studies which look elegant and interesting but impractical, this looks cluttered and awful.

Although it folds, its weight would limit the utility of its smaller folded size.

Its use of non-standard parts means that it may be difficult and expensive to fix.

As a consumer item, why is its pre-VAT price emphasised?

Why has the seller put gobbledygook as its 'about us' section? Presumably it is a poor quality machine translation, but this hardly bodes well for local support.

For £1500, there are other electric bikes with small wheels, big wheels, folding, non-folding, crank, hub, larger capacity batteries, lighter weight, from established brands which can be test ridden and provided by dealers who can advise and support.

What exactly does this product offer?

I personally like the design of it, Looks quite funky. That however is a personal thing. I would like to agree with 95% of what AndyOfTheSouth said above me. Do not go near this with a barge pole. Lots more choices that would suit you better.

Uh there is a gallery section showing pictures of the real thing: db-zero.com - Photo Gallery

Agree with others on the points about unrecognised brand and non-standard parts meaning if something breaks after warranty you may have to go back to the company - but then again most ebike manufacturers have their own specialised parts for their bikes that no other company sells, like batteries for instance.
