You are correct I completely misunderstood.
I thought you meant using a Cyclone mid motor type set up where the motor is already fitted with a drive cog (and free wheel?).
Ahh do you mean utilising the freewheel and 7-11 cassete derailer on the hub out to the rear wheel.
No. The motor would sit such that it positions an attached gear cluster Cassette or freewheel) where that double sprocket is. You can put the chain on whatever sprockets give the right ratios

I have reread your post regarding mounting the hub motor I now understand.
Clamp the hub in drop outs/ins forward chain drive to front chain ring and backwards to the rear derailer via a conventional 7/11 hub.
Hub being secured in mid tub section.
The big advantages would be better trike weight distribution with battery/motor mid mounted and the centre tub is the stiffest part on my trike so best place for motor.
Only thing that bothers me is that the motor hub would be enclosed-would cooling be an issue?

Totally enclosed wouldn't be good. sitting in a box open at the top would be fine.

another issue I take these motors are similar to the 800 watt motors I use in my model aircraft-no vibration.
I realise this might be down to the quality of d-i-y installation.

Yes majority are 3 phase BLDC hubs now and sensored for quieter running.
