Yep the stand is only "just" fit for the job and needs to be adjusted to get it to not lean over too much as you say.

I need to change the brake pads in mine too.

I too think another light on the back might be worth it. A cheap flashing red clip on job would probably be sufficient for me.

Yes that's the one-I've had one for over a year now -it's still going strong with the original batteries.The run time on the U.S. version is considerably greater than the British counter part.It's extemely bright with a highly visible flash pattern.Mine took around a week to arrive [Ebay] a a total cost of around £25.00.

I also use a Blackburn Mars 4 rear light -also very bright -but eats up batteries-mine seems prone to water ingress.

Just out of interest do you have any pedal reflectors left in situ. I lost all 4 of mine in the 1st couple of months (not intentionally).

Interesting one of mine is gone and I have a strange rattle which having checked the remaining three, is probably them as they are ready to fall off

Easy to replace though I guess.

Must admit having loaded it all up I do still prefer the minimalist look and may go back one day - but my bike is mainly for 'utility' use and all the additions are genuinely useful.

My bike arrived with one pedal reflector missing. I managed to find a replacement from my local bike shop who happened to have a couple round the back and sold me two for 50p. I couldn't find anywhere that actually listed them for sale.

More on panniers

Good to see so many keen cytronex users. I noticed the comment on panniers. No need to pay for Ortlieb as LIDL do very similar bags for around £11.00 a side. They are voluminous wrap top type, clip in the Blackburn stand, and seem to be reasonably waterproof. Before that I used a set of Halfords panniers which were thin and not waterproof but by putting my briefcase into one of their special inner bags (about £5.00 I think), I had no problems with water even in some Yorkshire monsoons. With the LIDL bags I have dispensed with the inners as I don't think they are necessary. As I commute 8 miles each way, it can be 30-40 minutes in the rain and I do carry work home plus shopping en route etc.
I also use the pletscher stand on one of my bikes and have found it invaluable - but I need to be careful on uneven ground as it does prop the bike up quite vertically and if I fill the pannier too full (as it has a large capacity) it can overbalance.
One other useful accessory which works well on the original trek 7.3 FX is a zefal spy mirror fixed half way up the right bar end. As I don't use the bars for grip it doesn't get in the way but gives a good view and doesn't stick out very much. Like Flecc I do like to have a constant view of what's sneaking up behind me.

Thanks Tagray for the tip. I've been thinking of getting a mirror for when cyclists sneak up behind me. The spy mirror sounds like just the job.

Well six months later I am considering selling this. Its a lovely bike but my EBrompton has taken over as my everyday bike

I have put it in the classifieds on this forum to gauge interest and if it does not sell there I will put it on ebay early spring.

Hope I don't regret this

Well I rode my Cytronex in to work everyday last week. I am completly hooked on this bike. I have also put it on my house insurance but had to insure it to the value of its full new cost. Not too bad at £32 for the year against its new replacement the Claud Butler at £1400.

I am hoping to go to the Bike show at Earls Court late next week and want to go have a chat with Cytronex as well as looking round at all the bikes and bits and bobs.

I am curious about the setup on the new Cytronex bikes and how they differ.

My one minor niggle is that you can't turn power off without blipping the brakes. It not a big deal though. Also curious why the new ones only cut power by applying the back break and not either

I am a new member to an old message! I am trying to determine the average trip distance riders are getting from their cytronex battery. 18 miles is quoted but what might you be getting?
