Cyclotricity - 3rd party?

Hi,

Does anyone know if Cyclotricity conversion kit motors are built by them or if they are imported 3rd party motors?... I love the idea of buying British built stuff but if the motors are imported from China or somewhere, it kind of misses the point - for me anyway.

Interesting question, I and a few others will want to know the answer to that.
Here in Germany, nobody seems to know for certain where Bosch manufactures their motors. At least I could not find it on the web.
The only motors on (2x Rear Hub) e-bikes I have used/owned myself, with no problems whatsoever, were both made in China.
Basically "No-Name" versions.....So no help there, sorry!
I would be surprised if any motors in Europe/UK are made here, but I could now be surprised possibly!! Of course, parts may be made abroad and assembled here possibly!

I very much doubt they are UK made, probably Far East and most likely China.

Beware high power hub kits that use direct drive which is fine for high speed on the flat, but really inefficient at normal riding and poor for hills. You need a really expensive battery to get the best from them. Check postings here about that. Also illegal even if switched to lower power.

They are built in the UK believe it or not however almost all the components will be from China or Asia. The same nearly every eBike on the market, including Bosch motors, where nearly all the components are Chinese I understand. It's very difficult to buy eBikes motors that do not in some way or other originate from China... wherever they are built.
