HI all,

Long time no post anything! :)

I'm looking into a Cyclotricity mid drive kit from https://electric-bike-conversions.co.uk/ in Guildford, mainly because they'll take Cyclescheme vouchers (at a 10% premium!!!)

1. Anyone have any advice or reviews on the cyclotricity kits? On their website it says they're made by Bafang. Looks like the guy in Guildford is a reseller. Anyone dealt with this company?

2. Any suggestions for other companies/shops who could supply a kit on Cyclescheme? It seems a bit hit & miss who will/won't deal with them, I guess because of the commission they charge.

I have a 90s GT steel framed MTB that I've built up as a cargo bike/commuter, but want to electrify it because I have a seriously hilly commute to work.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi, just wondering if you purchased the Cyclotricity mid drive and how it is performing? If you did, what battery did you get please?

I'm interested in the mid drive on the cycle scheme as well. I'm talking with Pedal and Chain who are really helpful but also charge 10% extra.

I haven't seen on the Cyclotricity website that it is a Befang system. But I asked them a lot of questions direct and they were very helpful as well:

1. The kit is shower proof, not fully waterproof (as I expected).
2. When the disclaimer is signed the user will be able to toggle between 250W and 500W from the LCD screen.
3. 1 year warranty is provided, and if you purchase through Cyclotricity you can extend it to 2 years for £99.
4. The 36V 16Ah battery will provide up to 50 miles range on one charge (based on 250W).
5. "It is not any Bafang model as it is our own product but it is based from Bafang design. It has the Speed sensor and Torque sensor. Its not the same motor as any of the Bafang it is only based off of them and uses some of the same parts. Ours is cheaper but durability and performance is the same."
6. If your bike has hydraulic disk brakes then you don't need to replace them. They will work with the system.
7. The motor provides 70nm of torque in 250W and 96nm in 500W.

My only reservation at this point is the lack of reviews available (I've only found one video on YouTube but it didn't really focus on the mid drive, just compared it to a high end ebike). And the size of the battery - I like the look of the 36V 9Ah bottle battery better, but conscious it may fall short on some rides, especially using the 500W motor.
