Paul, thanks for sending my login details, any chance of adding somewhere where i can change my password to something more memorable. I thought i would be able to change it in my user profile but i can't see where....
Good news about cyclestreets btw
I also noticed this on the Home page
Where to charge an Electric Bike in Exmoor with Exmoor Unplugged
Has anyone contacted them about sharing the cyclecharge points on our directory? They seem to have established quite a number around exmoor.

A few weeks ago, i made good use of a charge point at Bridport. As good weather was forecast I took a day off and headed for the coast. The owners of the 'Yarn' shop made available a socket which enabled me to top up the battery for the return trip. They have a cafe out the back also. I put a couple quid in the coffee fund and we were both happy.

I wouldn't have attempted the trip without being able to charge up down there, if you know the hill out of Beaminster you know what i mean. I will be making further trips next year. The route i found was mainly off the main roads useing the bikehub/cyclestreets app.
I now have first hand experience of the cyclecharge idea, it is such a good idea it's really worth persuing. Thanks to you and funkylynn's hard work.
A couple pictures...(not of me luckily)

Thanks wurly,
Didn't realise there were chargepoints around Exmoor - I was looking just t'other day, as we spend a week near Porlock most springs & autumns.

Wow thats great Wurly.
Hope you got to meet Rosie and took notice of my Designer kits in there lol

We just need more areas covered it makes such a difference to members being able to tackle longer rides with the confidence of knowing that they can get back with that extra battery boost.
It makes all the hard work worthwhile to see the CP's being used.
Hope you had a great day out...and thanks for the photos....its making me homesick.....all this sunshine down here in Spain is just SO tiring.....lolol

Lynda :)

CycleCharge has it's own Wikipedia page!

We agreed at the last meeting it would be a good idea to have a Wikipedia page, so I've just read up on how to make one and created one for us. As well as being a useful source of info and free publicity, it will also be a good way to keep people updated on the project and any new developments etc.

It's awaiting review so isn't live yet, could take a week or more as there's a backlog.. not sure if the above link will work, but that's the draft article submitted anyway.

That's a great post Wurly and I like the pics, very nicely done :) I'd like to make an article from your post on the site if I may and show your pictures? I think it would be an interesting first hand experience of using a charge point which might encourage others.

Contacting prospective charge points by e-mail

I've been compiling a list of potential new charge points to contact from some unlikely places! I found a site called BigBarn which lists ethical local food businesses and is like an Amazon-style marketplace for them. There's loads of regional farms/food producers, cafes etc..so I thought these might be ideal candidates for new charge points.. I'm going to try e-mailing them individually saying where I saw them, and I'll post back on what kind of response I get.. hopefully they won't think its spam and tell me to sod off! If this approach works, we could recruit more charge points in very specific areas without even getting cold or wet ;-)

I would have thought that a national supermarket chain would be the obvious choice - charge up whilst shopping, and most have cafes as well! Hope them meeting goes well - and Merry Christmas everyone. Elaine

Thanks Elaine. The problem with big chains is that they're harder to get onboard because of the health and safety aspects. Usually larger businesses have stricter procedures in place and it's a lot more complicated than approaching smaller independent businesses, many of whom are under threat from these larger companies and franchise chains. Smaller businesses will usually just give you a yes on the spot or take a few days to mull it over. For these reasons we decided not to bother with larger businesses and to focus on smaller businesses. Perhaps if CycleCharge grows large and becomes socially useful, the larger companies will one day contact us and ask to join ;-)

I guess we should start a new thread, this title is confusing some people!!

Edit: I've created a new dedicated thread for CycleCharge.
