December 4, 201510 yr Having had our first short ride on our new acquisitions we find the need for some cycle mirrors. It's mainly for pulling out for parked cars, but also to keep a check on whichever cyclist is behind the other. I have seen these on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flexible-BICYCLE-BAR-END-HANDLEBAR-MIRROR-CYCLE-BIKE-REAR-VIEW-CYCLING-MTB-ROAD-/400898227426?hash=item5d57657ce2:g:VnwAAOSw34FVIWQq What do you more experienced cyclists think? I'd appreciate your advice as ever.
December 4, 201510 yr Mirrycle every time. Best bike mirror you can buy. Loads of recommends on Amazon and they can’t all be wrong.
December 4, 201510 yr Having been recommended this mirror by many others and also since using it for around a year myself, I suggest the Mirrycle: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BICYCLE-CYCLE-HANDLEBAR-BAR-END-MIRROR-MIRRYCLE-MOUNTAIN-ROAD-BIKE-USA-MAKE-/131244669723?hash=item1e8ecabb1b:g:G50AAOxyLN9SjJKK
December 4, 201510 yr I've used the small round bar end mirrors on my motorcycle and found the view extremely limited. Probably better off with the convex shaped mirrors, that give a wider field of view.
December 4, 201510 yr I used to have one of those in the original post and it was excellent. Just be careful not to overtighten it...
December 4, 201510 yr Seconded, Mirrycle generally agreed to be the best. The one you illustrated Lancslass is for drop handlebars and will be too large to fit into our usual bars which are smaller diameter. This one is the equivalent type for our handlebars, but as said, go for the Myrrycle. .
December 4, 201510 yr Not used the Myrrycle myself, but just looked at the link and i see it is convex. It looks ok, the view will be far better than a flat mirror.
December 4, 201510 yr Author Thanks guys, I've added the Mirrycle to my ebay Watch list. Having looked at some more mirrors I appreciate what you are saying about the convex mirrors. Would that mirror suit both the Vite Uno/Kudos Cobra mtb, AND my dutch step through Juicy Classic do you think? I'm thinking specifically about how adjustable it would have to be to fit on the dutch handlebars with their downward and backward sweep. Does the Mirrycle adjust at the two angles and at the mirror? December 4, 201510 yr Author I have decided to buy just one Mirrycle mirror for hubby's straight handlebikes and check it out for mine when we get it. It's free P&P so no loss doing it that way. There is a decent video here about that mirror: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GGCEEIqJLM I have also made enquiries at Juicy about their fully adjustable mirror here: https://www.juicybike.co.uk/electric-bikes/accessories/handlebar-mirror and will see what they say (not sure if that one is convex or not).

December 4, 201510 yr I'd also like to thank people for their replies, I had been wondering the same question, because the Bear has 'full' grips (no bar end) I was reluctant whilst it was brand new to cut off the end of the grips so had to improvise and make my own mirror (which works ok but wobbles a bit). Anyway now its a few weeks old I'm happy to cut off the ends and follow your suggestions. Thanks

Rubbery coating over hard plastic? I drilled the end out with a 22 mm wood bit. Nice and clean looks like it came from the factory that way.

I would stick with Mirrycle they are good quality and when correctly adjusted don't wobble or flap in the breeze.

I have one on my Eagle and my wife has one on Juicy folder. If you have a look in my classified you will see how it looks Regards
December 4, 201510 yr Like the Bell one i got from ASDA, £5 for a velcro attached oval mirror. Though not seen them stocked lately
December 4, 201510 yr I always chip in on these threads and suggest the Zefal Dooback - good size, rock steady, and folds out of the way - just be sure to get the right-handed one. The downside is that it's chromed plastic so the image isn't perfect but perfectly good enough. I had a mirrycle fitted to a drop-bar bike and it was excellent - I just find the folding feature of the Dooback really useful.

December 4, 201510 yr I had a mirrycle fitted to a drop-bar bike and it was excellent - I just find the folding feature of the Dooback really useful. I have the Mirrycle on all my bikes and I don't understand your comment Chris about the folding ability of the Dooback which suggests that the Mirrycle lacks such a facility. The nicely engineered friction surfaces of the Mirrycle joints allow exactly that function - it's simply a matter of adjustment. The adjustment is correct when the mirror is unaffected by normal bike movement on road or light trail surface but can still be swivelled on each joint to allow for placement out of harm's way. Tom
December 4, 201510 yr Thanks for that, I'm sorry to read about your wife. I had an accident skiing and also lost confidenc. Hope she's ok now. Lancslass thanks for your kind comments. She is making steady progress, but it will be a long recovery gray
December 5, 201510 yr I've used the small round bar end mirrors on my motorcycle and found the view extremely limited. Probably better off with the convex shaped mirrors, that give a wider field of view. I always use the small motorcycle bar end mirrors too. They're small enough to be in proportion for cycles, (they'd look a bit naff on a motorbike), convex to give a good view, and much more robust than most bike mirrors, because they're made out of very lightweight alloy rather than plastic. They can be "plugged" into the end of the handlebars, or clamped over them, with the same universal design. On Ebay they're really cheap, (even from UK sellers), about £10 a pair. I fit one to the offside on all of my bikes and trikes. (utilising the pair on two bikes)
December 5, 201510 yr Author Those look really neat ehomer but they would only be any good for hubby's flat handlebarred Vita Uno. I'll need more adjustment joints for my Juicy Classic and I'm hoping the recommended Mirrycle will do us both. Juicy have got back and their mirror is not convex so I'm going to leave that (sorry Bob)!

But they're more form over function on these motorcycles.
