Because I have an older Crystalyte controller without the 6 pin cable, I bought a Cycle Analyst "Standalone" version that comes with a "shunt", that connects between the battery and the controller and sends signals to the display unit on the handlebars.
I still have a struggle, because my contact in Belgium promised to attach grey 50 amp. Anderson connectors to the shunt leads (I paid extra) but failed to do so, which means I have to find a way to do this.
I have no special crimping tool, so I guess its buy a blowtorch and solder the connectors.
Apart from that, although an email to the manufacturer in Canada put my mind sort of at rest, I wondered if any Forum members have this Standalone unit fitted?
The reason I ask is, the little moulded shunt block is printed with the word +BATT- at one end and CNTRLER, indicating which way to connect. BUT, whereas all the pictures and drawings show the cable that goes to the handlebar unit exits from the middle, on the controller end of the shunt moulding, my cable exits on the battery side of the shunt??
Canada said "just follow the labelling". I guess I will do that but would love a confirmation that nothing will go awry??
Any comments would be appreciated.
