Cute100 internal phase resistance

Featured Replies

Hi.

I'm trying to find some info on the internal phase resistance of Cute Q100.

By this I mean the ohmic winding resistance between phases.

It's very easy to measure. Just use any power supply with adjustable output current.

Set the voltage to 1V and current limit to 1Amp.

Then apply the voltage across the phases, one at the time.

Measure the voltage drop across each phase using a good digital multimeter set to mV.

If the multimeter shows e'g 120mV then the phase resistance is 120 milliohms and so on.

I have a couple of the old Tongxins (24V, 180W, 190rpm) which has 165mR resistance.

If the newer Cute100 has lower resistance then it will truly handle more power.

Hi, this is good and low values.

What was the Volt & RPM spec of your Cutes?

(For a quick comparison to my older models!)

36V / 201rpm although I calculated it @ 230rpm.

I run mine @ 63v / 700watts. First Q100 died @ 850w within two weeks. 2nd one lasted 6 months @760w, although I think that death was a hall issue. I'm now @ 700w on my third.

Did you check the cause of death on your first failure?

Gearbox, winding etc...

Btw, do you find the Q100 silent?

Or does it whine at higher loads?

Windings on the first:-

Haven't checked the second - they are so cheap I don't really care.

And yes, it is a bit "growly" at higher watts although once up to speed it's quietens down a bit - you can certainly still hear it though.

Definitely not in the Tongxins "near silent" league.

Wow, that's a good frying of the windings...hehehe!

Have you any experience of the newer follow ups to the silent Tongxins?

Isn't it Keyde that has friction gears instead of cogg wheels?

Or is it only Tongxin that has a new and more reliable motor?
