Yes, I've read that too about the new Twist, nothing like as good as the old one in that respect. Not surprising with a hub motor though, these features are easier to integrate into a complete motor/pedal unit as in your Twist, Leonardo.

Personally I think hub motors should be controlled by a twistgrip, as I think the human "software" is better for the purpose. But then I don't like pedelec either and don't use it on my eZee bikes. The fact that I've been a motorcyclist for most of my life probably influences my views on this.

It should be said (in case of any misunderstanding) that although the Sparta Ion, Currie/Schwinn Izip & gepida bike frames have similar styling & design, they are not identical in appearance, rather they just "look" alike :)

Another update:

This thread sheds some light on the origin of the schwinn (& currie?) hub motors & batteries, and possibly some other small hub motor bikes too e.g. Giant etc. I hope it doesn't become a universal trend...

Definitely not the Giant Suede and Twist Stuart, though it could be on the hub Currie as well as the Schwinn.

I don't think either of those will be important in our market though, so probably nothing to fear.
