Banking is not an industry it is a service. Industries actually make stuff; for example the printing industry makes bank notes.
Banking and financial services account for about 10% of GDP. Don't let the action of a few hundreds unscrupulous dealers tar the respect that more than 1 million people who work in this industry deserve.

Agreed. In fact it's now narrowing down to even fewer guilty people acting without the banks authority to make their job of money making easier. One individual named in today's news is now being prosecuted having previously admitted being instrumental in manipulating the LIBOR rate, also claiming he was a serial offender in this respect. The prosecution say he was motivated by pure greed.

Manufacturing is worth more to the UK than Financial Services (circa 12% of GDP) and employs 2.6 million people . Few people seem aware of this and it should be more widely promoted. I think alot of people would be suprised by this, UK manufacturing suffers from poor marketing with the exception of some examples like Rolls Royce.
