Since 50-now-you-see-em-now-you-don't-Cycles did a moonlit flit I have no supplier support. May they go bust.*

I need to do a few jobs at the 1700 mile stage, such as trying to cure the dreadful screeching that both brakes constantly emit when braking hard. Cleaning the discs was ineffective so I assume that the pads are glazed and require attention. As someone who has worked on earth moving equipment and, currently, vintage watches, I assume that routine maintenance shouldn't present insuperable difficulties however it always makes sense to pay initial attention to the manual. Unfortunately in the case of this bike it's a complete disgrace.

Firstly, although it has become standard practice, a manual that contains versions in half a dozen or more languages is not a user-friendly document.
Added to this, a manual that combines information about half a dozen variants of a product - interleaving the relevant sections alongside each other - makes for even greater user hostility.
Now throw in a small format incorporating badly executed and/or printed murky photographs and Cube has managed to create a shocking muddle.

I don't know how much Cube have managed to save by incorporating this approach, a format which, in the case of less complicated products or a multi language manual containing clear reproductions related to a SINGLE SPECIFIC PRODUCT, might be acceptable. As it is, given that some of the content relates to safety, the manual is shockingly bad.

For the screeching, you might want to turn the disk around, many are made and mounted the wrong way round.
IMHO most are wrongly installed!!
I have not seen any information up to now, that mentions this!!
Just do the front one first and see if that helps.
It worked for me!
Or send me a picture, showing the disks as they are mounted on your bike....
Regards
Andy
PS. Only a metallurgical Engineer will/may see if its mounted backwards or not!

I'm in complete agreement about Cube manuals. I now have a Cube Hybrid Touring Pro 2019 and the manual is farcical. But then so is the washing machine manual, the Microwave manual, etc. They are all multi language, tiny print, 3 pages of safety warnings to 1 page of information, how cheap can we do this exercises.

As for the Bosch motors. I know Evans (where I bought mine) branches send them away but don't proper service centers like Atmosphere Electric bikes do the work themselves. Certainly there are some video's online that show the service kits (for the CX ) being used so I assume any Bosch approved service engineer will do the work themselves. I looked up a list of approved Bosch service centers and there really aren't very many.

all bosch motors with warranty have to go back to bosch if any dealer opens the motor the warranty is then void.

if the motor is out of warranty and a shop fits the service kit they then have to offer warranty on said part and be bosch approved.

Have I missed something here? Have 50 cycles done a moonlight flit? I bought my bike there last year, and the Loughborough HO branch regularly send me sales emails. I see their adverts and the website is still up. Still getting sales reviews just a few days ago. What is going on?

It's uncommon for manuals for any products nowadays to cover fault finding, with cars for example they often don't even properly describe how to replace a light bulb/LED!!

Google something like "cycle screeching disc brakes", there's loads of info out there. The brakes won't be made by Bosch, try looking on the website for the brake manufacturer, it could be Shimano for example, they might have something.

Alternatively take the bike to a local cycle shop or buy a cycle maintenance book, I can recommend this one:
